And to think people just take it for granted how hard it is to get a satellite to the outer planets. This was great and still inspiring today. Thanks Fran.

Thank you for this, Fran. I was 9 when Pioneer 10 was launched. Back then the best coverage of the NASA missions was in National Geographic magazine. That was an excellent decade with a) becoming old enough to grasp and be amazed at what was being discovered, b) home computers becoming a thing and soldering mine together in '79, and c) close-up pictures of Jupiter (!) and Saturn (!!) and ON SURFACE pics of Mars (!!!).
