Dr Andy Hill

I was watching a video from another channel that I patronise, while thinking how to get in touch with you, to tell you that the link didn't work but you already fixed it :-)

Jason Olshefsky

Have you not heard of DC injection for a low noise block (LNB) amplifier up by the antenna?

I hope you found the short output to BNC cable I placed in the box. Good luck with the antenna.

Too bad about the VR Surfer. But it still was an interesting video. You might like this YouTube video from a few year ago of a tour of the WWV at Fort Collins, CO. https://youtu.be/XJewUiP0Ueo

I wonder if you'd consider doing a collaboration with LGR, he's got the necessary computer hardware to put the VR surfer through its paces.

I love shiny new gizmos! Enjoy!

Ah that's a shame about the VR Surfer but thanks for trying. Really interesting to see the hardware anyway. I wonder if the clock is more accurate than NTP (internet time). Say you're 1000 miles from the transmitter, that's about 5ms out due to the speed of light. NTP has a correction because it has the luxury of bi-directional communication and can estimate the ping time to the time server. It's still going to be some number of milliseconds out though. However I wonder if the radio clock is perhaps more consistent because the signal path is a fixed length (if you don't move the clock) but the internet latency varies.

I'm not a HAM. In the audio biz we try to keep the DC off the AC as much as possible.

The GC-1000 has dip switches to set for your time zone so that it can compensate for the radio delay.

Nah. This unit has sentimental value to me, so I'll put it back in the vault for future generations to ponder.

As always. Enjoyed! 🤗
