It just isn't Donkey Kong if it isn't played on a genuine vertical CRT arcade monitor.  Four decades of playing this game, and I still stink at it.  But I love playing it!  If you want to see the insides of my home arcade check out the original video from way back - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyKfxlNbJWs&t=434s

In the 1980s, part of the movie Witness (Harrison Ford, Kelly McGillis) was being filmed in my home town. There was a segment where the Amish boy was at the sister's house. The house was supposedly in Philly, but was actually in my home town. The Amish boy and the sister's kid were to be sitting in front of a TV playing video games, one of those cultural things. Problem was that the film camera wouldn't sync with the video game console. They enlisted my business, an Electronics service company, to help them out. My solution was to record the play of some games on a VCR off site, then play them back on site which satisfied the sync-lock for the film camera. For whatever reason, that clip wound up on the cutting room floor.

My seminal memories are of playing the early arcade games, from Space Invaders, BattleZone, Defender and Tempest I had the greatest time growing up with friends and sharing memories of Gauntlet and proper multiplayer gaming. :)

Yup, huge Donkey Kong fiend as well! Like most things, easy to play, hard to master. I have never broken the 100,000 point barrier on the arcade version. The Colecovision version I could roll the score, but I did and do love that port! Thanks for sharing!
