A beautiful piece of kit. I had an AKAI 4000DS and the loan of a Revox B77 back in the day.

I'm so envious. I shouldn't be because I no longer have any reel tape but still, I'm soooo envious. :)

I always dreamed of owning either the Technics RS1500 or Pioneer RTX909 - the latter came up first on eBay so that's what I have.. Lovely machine though.. Maybe I need both?

Oh that's lovely!

A mighty beast. I hope food and medicine for the thing is going to be available for many more years. NOS belts are not always a bargain at any price; i just bought some that might be good for trapping flies or sealing envelopes but might need a lot of cunning (And repowering with a V8) to ever turn pulleys. I could say I'm envious, but a stronger word would be better.

Dr. Forbin is worried ... :)

Does the 4-track side of that playback switch see any action? Discrete Quad!

"Will it go round in circles?"

This is a dedicated stereo machine - I did have a quad deck years ago but parted with it for a move way back.

frantone

I have had many RtR decks but this particular deck I have held onto because it is so iconic - the standard 80's era DJ deck.

Just an awesome looking piece of equipment. Watching reels go round is mesmerising.

In my Philly sound studio days, this was THE machine to make a producer's "rough mix" tape for review before final mixdown. I think Panasonic was inspired by the mighty 3M M-79 Iso-Loop multi-track transport.
