Links! Need links to that part! Plus, there's room in there for a battery and a bluetooth radio... ;^)

Hi Fran, nice work! Please consider giving these card cases or the connector some sort of key so they cannot be inserted in reverse. I reckon that would cause destruction of at least the module. How about a 13th "blind" pin in between, like IDE cables had back in the day?

So happy with this novelty project. I can imagine this becoming a toy for young kids experimenting with audio. Or handmade Christmas presents with different themes.

The two unpopulated pads on the board itself seem to be for an optional Rosc. It is spec'd to 80k to 200k for 8kHz to 3.2kHz sampling rate. I wonder what would happen if you would change the resistance while recording or playback. http://www.inkocean.in/lx20lya-10-seconds-to-20-seconds-of-recording-equipment-megaphone-chip-ic-12-feet-isd1820cob-l2f2

Hearing the audio, it reminds me of the Thomas Edison recording of Mary Had a Little Lamb. Same scratchy quality.

ive got a bag of these on the bench so its crazy you are doing this too. Ive noticed there are a few different times available is this based on bitrate? we should look at all the user adjustable options, also, electret mic, is there a way to use a line level signal to clean up the sample?

What about keying? It looks like it might be easily possible to insert the (yes, very cute!) cartridge backwards...
