As I mentioned in the midweek post, I did have a list of maintenance tasks to work through.  I got a chunk of them done but not all.  Of the two remaining charms, I was able to implement one and partially implement the other.  More on that to come.

Firstly, the important stuff.  Version 0.016 of The House of Hellish Harlots is ready.  As usual it is attached as a .html file.  You should be able to download it and open it with your regular internet browsers.  Patrons have reported issues in the past with the Brave browser and mobile devices where security settings might be blocking the opening of the file.

Now to go over what's been added in this version.

THE BUXOM LOLIBABA
She's a new NPC that sells various charms to the player.

CHARMS
Charms last for the duration of a run (until the player dies or runs out of harlots).  They have a variety of effects.  The Buxom Lolibaba will give vague hints as to their use, but you'll have to play around with them to figure out what they do.  All but one have been implemented.  A lot of them are protective in nature but won't do anything for now as the abilities they protect against will be added with future harlots.  The other ones have a few interesting effects I hope you have fun finding out.  There are 36 in total.

NEW HARLOTS
Three new harlots have been added to the House.  They are:

Veronicalla - a squishy slug girl.
Asphya - an enigmatic harlot dressed fully in black latex and wearing a gas mask.
Pêl-O Sugn - A synthetic being that wants to give you a sexy bounce on her big rubber ball.

All 3 are oddballs this time around.  I'll try and mix in a few regular succubi/monster girls for the next release.

MAINTENANCE TWEAKS
There have been quite a few of these.  The Portly Gentleman and Elegant Woman have been tweaked to bring their structure in line with the other NPCs.  I'm hoping this will finally fix the occasional infinite Action bug that leaked from The Elegant Woman.  I've also gone back and tweaked some of the older harlots to fit changes to The Portly Gentleman as well as interacting with the new charms.

That said...

"Why doesn't Charm X affect Harlot Y?"
I'm still going through the existing harlots and updating them.  Some have been done, but I wasn't able to do all of them (hence why the remaining charm is only partially implemented).  There will be occasions where you might wonder why a charm didn't reveal a harlot's true form, or protect from an ability you thought it should protect from.  It's because I haven't updated them yet and it will likely be fixed in the next release.  Thankfully, it's only a small handful of interactions.

"The economy doesn't seem balanced."
Portly Gentleman payouts and prices of potions, charms, etc. are mostly back-of-an-envelope calculations.  This will be tightened up as I add more content.

I think is my favourite update so far. I haven't run into the slug girl yet but pel-o-sugn (sorry. I'm far to lazy to look for that funny "e" character) and Asphya are totally awesome. A bit of a stronger flavour to this one. It certainly appeals to my twisted mind. Many thanks for some top notch writing there :-)

The Game also feel like a little more of a challenge now that the safe option of choosing a place holder has been removed.

There are a few left, but I'm hoping to have them all replaced in the next couple of releases.

Loved this update, especially Asphya and Pel-O-Sugn! I was wondering if Asphya had more than 2 scenes (Bad End and Good End), since the Elegant Woman seemed to hint at that (or maybe I'm reading too much in her explanations?)

Asphya's scenario came out a little shorter than I was expecting. I might expand it later or keep her as one of the shorter regular scenes. Not sure yet.

Nice update! I really liked Asphya - I really do relish these oddball fetishy harlots! There's so many fetishes to cater to, and its nice seeing some attention here. *still waiting for a vampiric harlot, heh* Also, there's far too many charms, and having only 3 on display at any one time makes it really difficult to obtain a specific charm that I feel is good for a specific harlot. I must have failed more than 20 playthroughs just to try out Iron Lungs just for Asphya (chances of it showing multiplied by chances of not dying are damned slim)

The charms are to make the runs play out differently - sort of like artifacts in a roguelite like Slay the Spire. That's why I went with 30+ but only 3 on display for any round. The protective charms aren't needed for the current harlots. I've added some interactions, and there will be more to add (I only had a chance to update half of the existing harlots - I'm still working through the rest this month). Iron Lungs won't work on Asphya with the hint for why being in its cryptic description. It should have an (minor) interaction with Mamilla and similar harlots, and that's something I'm hoping to add before the next release. It is currently referenced with the Muchadh sisters. For the most part it's currently best to assume the protective charms don't do anything for now. I put them in to know what I need to reference for future harlots. The harlots requiring the protective charms as a necessity to survive are coming later. I'll also be giving the harlots a round-range where they can show up. That way the player will have chances to pick up some protective charms before the harlots that need them show up.
