Apologies.  I was really hoping to have "The Succubus in Mr Herbert's Summer House" out by now.  I hit a pretty nasty block trying to get it over the finish line.  This is something that tends to happen with me for the longer short stories.  I either speed up at the end and rattle them off quickly, or slow right down and it becomes a bit of a crawl to get them done.

At least in this case, I realised what was happening and temporarily switched projects rather than get nothing done.  I dug out a story-in-progress I'd been aiming to get done for a Halloween competition and got that moving again.  That's at just over 3K words typed up.  It ended up going on the backburner because the monster girl character didn't fit.  I think I've got a better handle on her, and I might see if I can get this finished in time for Lit's upcoming Halloween competition.

A brief change of project seemed to do the job and get the original story moving again.  The Summer House story is now at 9K words typed up.  I just need to give the protagonist an appropriately climactic end (stop playing with your food, goddammit), edit it and then it will be ready.  I'm hoping middle of next week, but as that didn't work out too well last week, I'll not try and predict a date and just post it when it's done.

As it's overrun, I think I'll enter this in Lit's Halloween contest as well.  It will look suspiciously like summer story that wasn't finished in time, but there's also a horror element, so it will fit for the contest.  That isn't open until the 1st Oct, but I won't wait until then.  I'll post it here for patrons as soon as it's finished.

Once again, I'm really sorry this has taken as long as it has.  When I first had the idea, I thought it would be a straightforward story of 4-5K words.  Not really sure how it got to around 10K words.

Many thanks for your support and interest.

Keep chipping away, looking forward to seeing both stories when they're ready
