There’s a VH1 interview with DMC where he calls the lyrics to Walk This Way “hillbilly gibberish”, which is exactly right

The show is amazing. I hope I’ve told all of you privately how much I’m loving this series. For anyone interested in some further Rick Rubin/Beastie Boys clarification: Beastie Boys sampled AC/DC’s “Back In Black” for their 1984 12” single, “Rock Hard.” It’s the first Beastie Boys single on Def Jam and Rick Rubin has a producer credit on it. “She’s On It” came out in 1985. In 1999 when the Beastie Boys were putting together a big anthology release they actually approached AC/DC to finally clear the sample. AC/DC respectfully declined. It wasn’t personal, AC/DC just didn’t philosophically agree with sampling. “I’m Down” has never been “officially” released. This was allegedly because of Michael Jackson. Another Rubin produced track, “The Scenario” (which appears in the film “Pump Up The Volume”) was intended as a B-Side and is one of the tracks Def Jam planned to include on the unreleased “Whitehouse” album has also never been commercially released. Again, the show is great! Can’t wait to get to “DICE!” Also looking forward to the TWO albums from Red Hot Chill Peppers in 2022.
