Today the Sector's Edge servers shut down and the game was delisted from Steam. The frantic bug fixing is over and we're now fully committed to our next games.

Next Steps

I'm currently extracting the 'engine' out of SE and into it's own standalone library, so we can make new games quicker by reusing what we've already created.

To test the engine works, we'll use it to create a tiny 2D game, then share it here or on Itch to ensure it doesn't just 'work on my machine'.

After that, we have ideas for more games - some set in the SE universe and some not - and our plan is to create small demos for each of them, then decide which one is worth spending more time on.

YouTube

I also want to get better at video editing, talking and teaching, so I've started creating videos about what I've learned from creating Sector's Edge. So far I've posted two videos to YouTube, and the latest one has nearly reached 1 million views!

The channel went from 1200 to 26000 subscribers and it feels surreal. We struggled to build an audience prior to the first SE launch and I'm hopeful that it will be different the next time around.

I'm keen to create more videos and keep the momentum going. It takes a lot of effort - the last video took 120 hours over 34 days - so I'll be posting more frequent updates here on Patreon.

This Patreon page will revolve around the games we're working on now, whereas the YouTube channel will focus on what we learned from making Sector's Edge.

Stay in Touch

There will be times I haven't posted here for weeks because my consistency isn't... consistent! Feel free to comment or message me here, I'm always happy to have a chat.

Thank you for sticking with us, we hope to create more games that you'll love.
