Missed a couple posts - time to make up for it!

I experimented with creating plants using the simple kite shape below. I'm not sold on the results and need to go back to the drawing board - I felt limited with only being able to use the one shape, but I may need to stick with it longer to see what else I can come up with.

This could be an interesting method of rendering monsters as I like the scale-like aesthetic:

I started creating these fern-like clumps by generating 60 random kites, with the size and angle of the kites increasing the closer it was to the center of the fern:

I then moved onto math/angle-based plant generation:

I'm not really sure what I was trying to achieve, but spirals look cool!

Then we arrived at Stegosaurus spines:

Some kind of funky snake appeared:

A mountain range?

Creating circles from negative space:

And finally, starfish!

This post quickly deviated away from plant generation. I would like to try animating some of these to create interesting scintillating effects.

I've also been looking at game jams and found one on itch.io that has a 1-bit restriction, i.e. you can only use two colours (black and white, yellow and grey, etc). I have a super simple game idea for it that I'd love to try, stay tuned!

It would be super cool to hear about a game jam experience on here! I'm curious what exactly we are looking at in these pictures. I can step back and see the bigger picture, but look closely and see it's individual "pieces". Is what we're seeing a potential final product and it's the kind of style you're going for? Or do you have another vision in mind? Not sure if that made sense

Not a final product at all, but I do like the segmented rendering style - it could be good for monster scales. Today's post shows our vision much better. And yes, keen to share game jam posts here too!
