Still fleshing out ideas for my AU.

Arackniss is the right-hand man of Overlord Pentious. Arackniss and Pentious have built the empire together, but Penn becomes power hungry and over time, begins to assume the dominant roll in the hierarchy. Niss didn't mind the fact that he wasn't the boss, he was never type to take on so much responsibility. Pentious seemed to enjoy it a little too much.

Penn couldn't help but get sucked into his work, the sex became sparse, sometimes Arackniss wouldn't see Pentious for weeks unless he needed him for something. They grew apart, but Arackniss was still loyal to his partner, even if he was beginning to doubt Pentious was even attracted to him. It began to wear on Arackniss, he would try anything to initiate a social response from him, but the snake had lost the passion he had for the spider then, turned bitter and abusive.

Seeking the affection he had been craving for so long, Arackniss starts to loosen up. The constant stress of never knowing when the overlord might be calm one day, or irate the next, pushed Arackniss to lose hope in the love between them, leading him to make decisions he might not otherwise make. It's been a week since he had a conversation with anyone other than Pentious, the long conversations about world conquest start to get old eventually.

He needs something more.

Does Penn even realize how much he's pushed Arakniss away or is he just oblivious/hoping he can keep him around anyway?

dommato

He is aware that he had pushed Niss away, he just doesn't care about the relationship anymore and would much rather focus on conquering hell. Penn does use Niss for sex, for stress relief, which manipulates niss to stay loyal by giving him hope that they still have something romantic.

I’m loving the idea of this so far. I can’t wait to see how this progresses
