Alpha 0.22 - What's New (IMPORTANT CHANGE) (Patreon)
Content
0.22 is a Jane update. We aimed at finishing her story line this update and writing wise, it's very close, other aspects not so much. After the change in her story structure (adding more scenes that originally), we're approximately 95% done +with writing, 65% with art assets and 75% with coding it all together.
The 5th of December is when we planned to release the 7-day early access but I may push it a few days depending on how the following few days go. I doubt we'll get every single thing in but very close.
What happened to the 0.21 Android Build? Where is it? Booom (the android porter) is currently busy with some life stuff so the android build will only BE built once he has the free time to do so. Apologies for those who are still waiting, he did say that it'll be a while before he's able to get to it, again, out of my hands.
This is the part where I mention what the 'IMPORTANT CHANGE' is, and that's with how the releases of A Town Uncovered will go down.
Basically, I'm changing the release from per 4-5 weeks to whenever it's ready. I'm switching from the timely model to the checklist model. This means that instead of having a deadline, I'll have a checklist of things I want done and will only release it when all those are completed.
The number one complaint that I get so-so often is that each update is unfinished and has an insufficient amount of new content from what you would like.
I understand this, we're a two-man team, given a 4-5 week bracket to do as much as we can. We're not robot-slaves, I don't work every waking moment of my life and neither does Robert.
For those that have nothing better to do than whine, I always suggest that if you don't like quantity of new content, you can always skip a few updates and play it later down the line which some of you smart people do. But for all the others who download every single one and still have the audacity to complain... like bruh, I ain't got enough hands to spoon feed ya'll.
The reason I opted for the timely release model is to show that physical progress IS being made each month. I'll admit that some updates are smaller than others, and there are many of you that only count sex scenes as content (same people who pause the movie whenever tits are showing lmao) but whatever it was, it was proven progress of what was for a long time, only me doing the work.
I'm very likely gonna have a drop in patronage from this change but that's really the only negative I can see from it, and it really only affects me and my livelihood. You guys don't have to worry at all.
The positives though are that whenever I do release an update in the future, you know that it's because there is a justifiable amount of new content for it, mainly that a large chunk of story has been done or if it's hit a milestone point.
So the problem or question that you're asking yourself is, 'how do we know if the game is being worked if we can't play it for ourselves every month?' I'll set up a Trello board that can be publicly viewed so you can see what is planned to be in the coming update, what's been done, and what's currently being worked on. This will basically be a live feed of the progress being made that you can check out for yourself at any time. If you don't know what Trello is, it's basically just an online task management service that you can view. #notsponsored. And the usual updates that I'll post every so often to keep you in the loop.
Will you switch from a 'pay monthly' to 'pay per update' model on Patreon? No, I will keep it as it is, it's really up to you on how you want to support the project. I am already expecting the worst.
This change will take place AFTER this coming update, 0.22. So 0.23 will not come out 4-5 weeks later, it'll come out whenever it's ready (The end of Miss Allaway's story, finishing up any of Jane's missing scenes, and other misc stuff).
You guys have wanted me to do this since the project was in like Alpha 0.05 and I'm finally caving into your requests. If it's working for others, it can work for me. At least in theory that's how it'll work. Let's hope we don't crash and burn this project into a graveyard of financially impractical projects. *sets off a party popper*
That is all my lovely perverts. If you have any questions or inquiries about this change. Comment down below or send me a DM on discord, I'll most likely reply on discord. Take care now.
