So a few things I wanna talk about.

First off, Alpha 0.18 will have a Jane H-scene or two (depends how you look at it) and of course Miss Allaway will have progression but only super softcore scene if any.

I'm still in the writing phase and will do so for another week, I'll explain why.

WARNING: Total ramble-fest, may also be totally over-estimating my abilities, totally in denial of wanting to burn myself out. I just wanted to put my thoughts and plans into words and see where it takes me. Don't take me seriously, this is for people who want a deeper glimpse of the dev side.

Long story short, I haven't created a long-term plan for myself for this game and I've always estimated that this game would take me 3 years to make, give or take. I've just created an outline of what the next 18 updates will vaguely look like (up to the 3rd year into dev) and I don't like the looks of it, honestly. At this rate, I'll be looking into working on this game for 4-5 years before I can call it finish. I want to try and shorten that to 3-4 years.

Here's my plan; I want to voice it out to you, peeping toms because it helps me think things through. The problem I have right now is that I have Rivinca, the new artist. "Hi, Rivinca". And I don't have enough writing material for me to send scenes to her to work on.

Rather than sort of working on the writing, coding, and art almost equally,  I'm just going to go all-out with the writing and get as far ahead as I can and outsource as many scenes for her to work overtime. I'll then allocate myself 1 week to work on art myself (probably h-scenes and tweaking the assets that was outsourced), and I'll allocate another 1 week, maybe less to code in as much as I can. So, it's really 50% writing, 30% art, 20% coding.

I did mention before and in polls that less popular characters will have shorter story lines, right? Well here's what I'm aiming to do.

Main Story - between 100-150 chapters*

Stage 1 Characters (Top 3 most popular) - 50 chapters (Total of 150)

Stage 2 Characters (Next 3) - 40 chapters (Total of 120)

Stage 3 Characters (Next 4) - 25 chapters (Total of 100)

Stage 4 Characters (Next x) - 10 chapters (Total of 10*x)

*Chapters are just what I call 'scenes', 'blocks of conversations', 'trigger event', etc. And note that it's all an approximation, give or take 1 to 5 chapters.

It's going to be a lot of work but I really wanna get this done sooner than what is expected right now. Don't burn yourself out, GeeSeki. Don't be an idiot. Don't fuck up. I know, I know, I know.

Why don't you hire another writer, Gee? I'm selfish and I wanna write the characters and their story my way.

Does this mean that there won't be any streams next week? Yes, although they are fun, I'll focus on writing and then do a whole week of arting.

When will you finish Miss Allaway and Jane's story? Well, it was estimated that I'll get both stories done by December (fucking yikes, I know). But with the whole approach change that I'll take and hope to stick to. I can write and code Miss Allaway's story by September (with filler sketches), and I can get Jane's story written and coded by either August or October depending on who I focus on (with filler sketches).

Is Missus and Jane's story still disabled, how do you disable it? Yes, it's disabled. No, I can't disable it for the vanilla release. There's a reason I disabled it in the first place and there's a reason why it's still and will continue to be disabled vanillaly. If you have a solution to the problem, please don't tell me. This is my livelihood, you don't think I've sat down and thought of everything?

Are you tired of ATU? No, I just want it done quicker, even if it's shedding off a few months.

Anything else you want to add? Yes, nothing is put into action or gone beyond thoughts and dreams but I have a desire to make another game, I'm not going to start it anytime soon but the idea is forming and solidifying in my head for when the time is right. And the time will probably be in 3 years from now. I guess it's a sort of drive to finish ATU quicker. Super original idea, I swear.

Thanks and good night, love yous. Fuck my head hurts from all this, no I don't need to take it easy, it's just hyperbole. Fingers cross that I can get shit done and not be 80 years old by the time I'm through with this game. (No, I'm not 77 years old, fuck.)

Know what might help? Not for writing but get basic ideas more often from us lewds. Like for example.... if we all said, We want to see a scene that does X, Y and Z, the basic art can be created for it by Rivinca and you just get to it when you get the chance. You may not use it for 3, 4 or 5 months but when it comes time for it, you already have at least the basics of it done. Even if not animated, I would think having at least the core stuff done before would help. That is if you dont happen to have anything planned that needs drawing at that point in time. I could totally understand wanting to handle the writing of the story yourself. I dont think I could hand it off to someone else either. If I did, it would no longer be MY story.

Writing out the story seems to be the right thing to do. It will give you a clear game plan in the future.

Yay more Jane

Seems like a good plan. Fica bem GeeSeki.

One suggestion though, the character popularity poll was made a long time ago when there was barely any content in the game, so I voted based mostly on how the girls looked since there wasn't anything else to go on AT THE TIME. I'd vote differently now that there is some content to judge also on the personality types of the girls etc. The idea to focus less on the less popular characters is fine in itself but before sitting down and writing everything for everyone I'd make sure that the people's preference for all the characters is still the same as back then because I'm thinking it'd be different.

yup, I have the spine of the story sorted out, it's just filling in the spine with the branching ribs and the meat of it all.

I ask for ideas when I need them, at the moment with Miss Allaway's story, I already have everything planned out and I know what's going to happen and all the scenes, I just have yet to fill it with the details and the dialogue. But I getcha, I think I prefer sketching and storyboarding a scene after I do the dialogue because something things may change.

GeeSekiVN

That is very true. By the time I plan out and do all of the main story, I will have introduce every single character I want in the game. Maybe even the next poll, I'll ask for a character that is only 10 chapters long, just to get them over and done with. Something like that.

Are there plans to reactivate Jane and the missus at some point?

Are you looking at having the new artist go back over any of the older scenes to polish them, or has that already happened? Also, have you considered changing the official relations of the characters and allowing renaming of the 3 characters that live in the MC house? Maybe make them friends of the family or something, then going back through the removed content and seeing if that fits in with the platform guidelines?

GeeSekiVN

She's going to be mostly doing misc art. I won't have her redo old art since only I can make the style look 100% authentic. She usually does 80% of the work and I go in and fix it up to fit game's aesthetics. I won't have her do h-scenes since those are finicky with the animations and the layers. I've already covered that in the post

If you won't hire another writer and want to do most of the art yourself, have you thought about getting another coder?
