Today's chapter is a kind of a choose your own adventure (except everyone has to read what I pick). I've been pondering it for a while, and there are really three options for what to do next.

1. Have the boys find the girls, and resume a fairly sedentary journey, making the adventure parts happen after they arrive. This could be like a 'going to school' story, or a 'creating a new life' story.

2. Have the girls meet another character, who hasn't yet been introduced, which would create a story about younger people learning from older, either subtly or through direct intervention.

3. Have the girls run around on their own, with no idea what they're doing. (Okay, very little.)

Now, I'm a #3 kind of author, so the girls are about to go off the rails, as it were, but this is definitely a turning point in the story, and it's an interesting view into what authors deal with. I know where the story starts (basically, the characters and setting), I know what I want them to 'learn' (character growth), and where I want them to end up. Often, how they get there twists and turns, and the characters themselves tend to drive the decisions. It's a little bit like role-playing, since you have to understand your character well enough to know what they'd do.

Okay, enough stream-of-consciousnessing from me. Time to write! Yay!!!
