I've been working on a new cover for TBK. This will probably be used for the first book when I actually publish, but I've also had some readers say the original cover looks kind of like a Furry (a person in an animal costume). Which I don't really see, but....

In any case, do you like this one better than the original? I like that Kaz is more dynamic. I'm not 100% sold on having him hold a broken knife, rather than the Wood Knife, but it makes more sense for the cover. ("Why is this guy holding a normal knife when it's called 'Broken Knife'?")

So, what do you think:

1) in general

2) in comparison to the original

3) Broken knife vs some version of the Woodblade

4) Which Li?!

I remember your original cover really caught my eye🤩 The new cover is great. I love Kaz's dynamic pose and cute Li version. The broken knife is grand but may not be visible at thumbnail view.

The pose and overall body design (lithe vs bulky and upright) is definitely better on the new cover. The head/face? is a little bit odd though. It looks more foxlike rather than dog/wolf based. Maybe a bit more detail for the nose, because it currently looks like a tacked-on shiny rock. A lighter shade of eyebrows and less narrow eyes might make him look slightly more wolf vs human and reduce the furry aspect a bit. Definitely agree with Daniel about Li, if it’s possible to just stretch the body/tail in the first image to be dropping down from his left shoulder, it would look way closer to the description in the story.
