huge props to the writers on Breath of the Wild for taking the incomprehensibly dense lore of the Zelda series and actually using it to assemble a Hyrule that both makes sense and is Extremely Cool to learn about.

Breath of the Wild: The Eternal Hyrule - Detail Diatribe

~The Legemd of Zegent: Breth of the Weth~ Blue dives into the world design of Breath of the Wild to explain how Hyrule draws on over two decades of Zelda lore to create a kingdom that is terrifyingly ancient and eldritch as heck. It's so cool, you guys. Our immense gratitude to Zeltik, whose videos on Zelda lore inspired this one, and who graciously allowed us to use his footage for our video. Most of this video just had me going “wow” as I conceptualized everything you were talking about. Was kind of hoping you two would talk about the actual timeline (I pictured a less incredulous Ptolemy family tree discussion) but still had a great deal of fun with this video

Personally, I find it fun to try and match up the lore and history of the games for explanations. For example, I think that the Lorule realm in Link Between Worlds is the same as the Twilight realm, and due to that timeline’s Ganon messing with dimensions and the triforce it caused ripples that made the descendants of the twili people reflections of hyrule (complete with their own triforce).

It almost feels like the true mark of good worldbuilding is for the audience to understand everything perfectly but be able to articulate none of it and i feel like the botw team pulled that off extremely well
