Hey all!

So since we announced the tier reworking for the new year, we've had an influx of requests from several of you, which is great! I've been working through those as fast as I can, and I'm very glad some of you are finally getting your rewards. We've both compiled a very interesting set of video requests we're looking forward to working on in 2021.

The less-great part is there's also been an influx of brand new tier-20 patrons popping into our messages with chibi requests the instant they sign on. I totally get why, but I feel it's important to say that this exact phenomenon is one of the reasons we discontinued this specific reward. Whenever I post a chibi, it seems like half a dozen people erupt out of the woodwork with minutes-old patreon accounts asking for a chibi of their own, and while we really, really appreciate all of you, that can start to wear me down very quickly.

Until now, while it's occasionally reached moderately soul-crushing levels of work, I've hammered through those instant requests to the best of my ability - even as some of those patrons jumped ship almost immediately afterwards, or dropped their tier level back down to the single-digits, or otherwise leveraged the system to essentially get a full commission for a fraction of its actual price.

But since this is officially the last call for people who've long since earned their tier reward but haven't yet claimed it, it feels pretty unpleasant to be dealing with the same chibi pileup.

I'll be honest, right now I'm not entirely sure what I want to do here. Saying "absolutely no last-minute chibis" feels harsh and unfair, since we announced the tier rework a month in advance specifically to give people time to call in their requests. But I genuinely don't know if I have it in me to take an avalanche of last-minute requests, and the "oh lord not again" reaction is getting pretty overwhelming.

Bad vibes aside, to anybody who's currently in the $20 tier and has yet to request a chibi, please let me know with a message sometime this month, and I will be happy to reward your generous support of our channel!

FWIW I really appreciate the channel, and am absolutely down for whatever you need to do to make it sustainable for yourselves.

I hope you're okay! That sounds unfortunately overwhelming :/

I dont think it would be fair to cut it off entirely since it was just now that it was updated about new patreons requests, maybe cut all new 20 patreon after the next video or this Friday, or from here on out since you've made the update. either way we know you work very hard on everything and i dont think any one wants to tire you out.

Yeah. I'll admit I wish I could do that (without the last minute tier down, of course) Because I've wanted to get my boyfriend a picture from you for a while (he's the one who introduced me to you and your work means a lot to him) but I don't think it'd be in good taste. What I recommend and what I see my artist mentor do is to only furfill art patreon stuff after it's been paid for the month! It gives you time to make sure people are serious, and map out and organize your work load for the month to be something manageable. With that, just let people know for your health some rewards will have to be spread out. I'm a full time digital artist myself, so I know how overflow feels. Brr. The other important thing to do with art like that is to figure out both how valuable your time is to people, and how much time for such art you have, and how much you make a hour. With your popularity, your art could easily jump up a lot in value. If it works for you, personally, I'd recomend upping the tier and putting a limit of the patron number on it. It's still a way you could make a LOT of money, so unless you're to burnt out it might be worth considering. You could probably do a 5-10 slot 100-200 price tier, and make a lot without so much work. It's always good to give the people who are really dedicated to having your art the chance to get it, and it can really help make you some money. Finally, I wanted to ask if, when all this is over and you've had your rest, there was any chance of getting a chibi commission for my boyfriend? I'm not sure when I could afford it, but it's a plan I had for a while, so I wanted to ask if there was a chance. Thankyou for your time, Goldie

If I ever start making a living as a cartoonist, and only do the part-time janitor job for the light exercise, I'll send you $20, just for the privilege of seeing all the other chibis. Take good care of yourself.

I was also wondering if there would ever be a possibility for open commissions at any point. I'm regretting not bring at the 20 tier while I had the chance but I refuse to be that person and try to jump on the last minute bandwagon, though I plan on moving from 5 to 10 in January.

I've seen some Patreons do it where you have you have that tier level for a certain amount of time before you can get the reward for it, to prevent that exact kind of shenaniganery. I suggest going that route!

Maybe do what they do for video requests- x amount of lifetime pledge gets a chibi request.

Don't wear yourself down 💜 you need to look after yourself too, and fans will appreciate that 💜

With demand so high, have you thought about setting them up with their own order system (ie, Paypal), and capping the number you'll do each month? First come, first served, and customers have to wait a bit before requesting another one? Maybe something to think about if you get the itch to do more of these later on, but don't want to be overwhelmed again--regardless, you're just too good at these! ;)

I suggest ranking all requests by the time the person is supporting you and doing them in that order. Work your way down until you reach the requests that got in from people who joined after the announcement and look if you still have the energy to do those.

Pace yourself Red and Blue. You guys are the workers. Take it easy and do what you can without burning out. Love the work you both produce and cant wait to see what is next.
