From next week on out I will be taking safety measures to prevent my artwork from being used by AI models. Why? Because I do not agree with the unethical farming of human art.

I am still working on making a decision which measure to use, but whichever it will become, this will mean a slight change in my MO. I will try to explain what this means.

Posting art

From Monday on all art posted by me on social media accounts will be protected from AI models through the means of either Glaze (defensive) or Nightshade (offensive), meaning I will only upload files that were run through this software to prevent platforms like i.e. X to use my artwork for AI generators.

Commissions

Upon finishing a commission, you as the client will be sent two versions of the same piece, the original and the protected version (labeled accordingly). This means that if you decide to post this on any public platform, I will kindly request you to use the protected version. If this will be enforced in my ToS, I have not decided on just yet.  What about using AI art as references?Because of the nature of the situation and the fact it is really hard at this stage to know if the art has been procured in a fair manner, I must restrict the usage of AI art as references for request and/or commissions. My preference is, and will always be photographs and self-drawn references! (Yes, I love stick figures)

This announcement is not to cast hate or to vilify any proponents of AI. The rise of AI generators and the discussions it has sparked have been interesting and something we will have to get used to. I know we all agree that no artist should have their art stolen for something they did not sign up for, and that is what this is about.
