Here is this years November 11th Poll. I grew up in Canada and we called it Remembrance Day but I know here in the US it is Veteran's Day. I wanted to honor both with this poll. I will be watching Courage Under Fire this week for it, it was the runner-up in last years poll.

Here is the collection of past war movies I have watched on the channel

I pray for peace so hard these days, there is so little I can do, but one thing is I can remember and honor. I shared this last year but will again-a poem I memorized as a kid and has always been special to me.

Flanders Fields by Canadian Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie,

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

I definitely support An Officer and Gentleman (1982); as I've seen that a few times with my mom in the mid 80's. The areas it was filmed in is some of the best scenery in Washington State. And yes I am biased because I was born and raised in Seattle. Also because it has Debra Winger :)

I really don't want to see 13 HOURS win this poll, so I'm switching my vote from THE THIN RED LINE (which, as I suspected, doesn't have a prayer) to the movie that actually does have a chance of defeating Bay's movie: ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT, which I haven't even seen yet but have been meaning to as I've heard nothing but good things about it.

Holy crap. Are we on X? Seems like there are a couple who are triggered. People need to relax a little. Again, I'm going with Down Periscope. Hopefully, nobody gets triggered over that one.

Yep. My favorite submarine movie. I served on Submarines. In some ways, it isn't too far off. Lol

Story Archer

I'd like to see The Great Escape make it into one of these polls - true story WWII movie loaded with stars from 60's including Steve McQueen; it's right up there with The Dirty Dozen.

Cassie, this is a very good poll you put together. I was torn between The Thin Red Line & Hamburger Hill, which are both very good. I ended up voting for Red Line. You will enjoy Courage Under Fire, it's very good, although I'm not a fan of the ending. I'll explain that to you later.

I don't usually leave comments on these patreon posts, so while unfortunate, it doesn't surprise me this category has invoked such strong reactions. And while there is a rule regarding political conversations, considering the subject matter of certain movies here, this was largely unavoidable without closing the comment section. Please be kinder to each other so we can avoid the latter from happening.

Cassie you and Carly would like An Officer and a Gentleman.

When it comes to poll candidate selection, more is not necessarily better. BORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY or ALL QUIET are great films and my personal choices.

Boy, some of you really know how to suck the fun out of stuff
