Thrawn (mentioned in the Shadow Council scene) is a great character who was first introduced in books in 1991 (no longer canon). He was re-introduced in the animated series Star Wars Rebels. You wouldn't have seen him at this point, but in season 2 of the Mandalorian, in the episode called The Jedi (introducing into live action Ahsoka Tano - she told us the baby's name was Grogu) - Ahsoka dueled the warlord at the end. She disarmed her and demanded to know where her master was: "Where is Grand Admiral Thrawn?" This is setting up the live action debut of Thrawn in the upcoming Ashoka series which debuts in August. I hope some of that helps :)

The 6 canon books don't get a shoutout, but the childrens show does. Cool.

Walter

Well, I wasn't writing an essay, just drawing connections between this show and the next one, which is clearly drawing a lot from the children's show.

fyi.. You're friend was correct in that he's not always in the suit but he is in it and is frequently on set even when he's not.. It's said to have been a collaborative process in developing the physical movements etc. between him and two doubles.. apparently the suit is difficult to wear.. it is heavy, hot, frequently makes the person blind because the slit in the helmet quickly fogs up but is also empowering and (according to Pedro himself) great at putting him in character.

I think the Anzellans are my favorite race in the SW Universe. 🤣🤣 so cute. #BadBaby

Mike LL

Equating animation with "children's show" doesn't quite work with Star Wars. There were some pretty mature content in both the Clone War series and Rebels.

Michael Enos

Also.. I wondered if you were shipping Bo-Katan and Din.. it was very moving when he said her "song wasn't written yet and that he would serve her until it is".. plus..she's been warming to Grogu gradually too.

Mike LL

I agree Katee Sackhoff is pretty stiff in the role of Bo Katan. I never saw her in Battlestar Galactaca, so I don't know if she is the same way in that role, but it might be because she is of a former royal house of Mandalore, that might explain some of the stiffness.

After you finish episode 8, Cassie, you need to watch this. It's very funny. https://youtu.be/BAtDj7WLjDY

Steven Perez

She's not. I watched her as Starbuck (an excellent role is a very good show), and she could be very animated when the role called for it. You're right that her character here as Bo-Katan is more restrained due to her station, though.

Will C

Katee Sackhoff is definitely playing the role the way she did in the animated series. She’s generally very charismatic and, in real life, hilarious: https://youtube.com/shorts/xhATfn6o33g?feature=share

Joe Mallard

If you saw what she went through in Clone Wars and Rebels, it makes sense.

David Freese

Hi Will. I'm a couple weeks behind but Katee Sackoff played Starbuck like she does here as well in BSG. I just think at times its her acting style. Especially when she's trying to portray strength in her character.

David Freese

Mike I'm a little late in catching up to episode 7 but Katee Sackoff is more animated in BSG but when she needed to show strength like if she was CAG then she sounded like she does here.

Mike LL

CAG? That's the part I didn't get/ I'm dense sometimes. Thanks for the response, Dave.

Greggory Shaw

Katee is definitely underutilized compared to her acting in Battlestar Galataca. But, from a recent article she stated that they shot one scene in Mandalorian 38 times, compared the the BSG budget of only 2 or 3 take per scene. So, unfortunately it's mainly to the her role or the writes not capitalizing her abilities, is it me or is she hotter now, Lol
