EDIT: WOW! So many great and helpful comments from everyone! I'm sure this will help solve lots of headache and confusion. Thank you so much guys, you are awesome!

Hey guys! I wanted to create a helpful thread to see if you guys can share how you watch the full length reactions. I know there have been a few new patrons recently and I'm sure not everyone is super tech savvy, so I thought I could pin this post in hopes of helping each other out and making it a bit easier!

So, how do you watch the full length reactions? What software do you use? How do you deal with NTSC vs PAL version of the movie? Do you use one screen or multiple? Do you use the timer or sync it visually with your own copy? I'm sure there are lots of other questions, so if you have any input or advice, feel free to share! I don't think you can post pictures in the comments, but if you have a setup you'd like to snap a picture of just email it to me (popcorninbed1@gmail.com) and I'll upload it to the post.

Also, is there anything that I could be doing to make it easier for you guys?

Thanks as always for being here and supporting the channel, I'm really so grateful, you guys are the best!

I know this is a silly question, but when you have her reaction video pulled up & playing, is the video on her end always going to be blurred out and the audio muted, while you are watching your copy? Is that how it works?

Mike Lemon

Yes. It is against the law to publicly play a copyrighted movie, punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine (if I remember the "FBI warning" right).

This is an excellent lineup. Thanks Cassie!

The reason I am a low tier patreon is because, I only watch YouTube on an app on myTV in the living room, and I am not sure how to handle a setup for watching both. If it were somehow easier to deal with I would upgrade my status and do the full movies.

TVs usually have Picture-in-Picture available somehow? Might be worth trying out to see if you can set up playing a movie and a vimeo stream at the same time? Getting a mix of sounds from both seems a bit more complicated though... Headphones and streaming through your phone for Cassie's audio and then your tv speakers for the movie audio, maybe?

A while ago, I looked into whether it would be possible to build a TVOS app specifically for Patreon reactions. The app would use picture in picture functionality to overlay and sync reaction videos on top of media provided by different streaming services. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem currently feasible as none of the major streaming providers offer public api's for their content. However, I may still decide to build a small scale app for my own personal use that can take two video files and display them in PiP format.

Why not just use two instances of VLC- one full screen, one small one in the corner?

hi, im new here and i just want to say firstly that i remember watching your Saving Private Ryan reaction on YT however long ago and wow you blew up. smart move with the patreon and now im here lol. anyway, sorry if you've already addressed this but, have you considered changing the full reactions to "not watch-a-longs", aka just making it like an uncut YT reaction? most other patreons i've seen do it and frankly i think i'm on that tier now but i am considering moving down because watchalongs are just not as convenient. i think anyone can agree on that. just being honest, i would definitely pay for that tier and maybe pay a little more for full uncut reactions with the video and in my experience i believe many others would too. just my 2 cents, thanks (also cant wait for EP VIII and IX of star wars)

Gábor Árki

Unless acquiring distribution rights from the copyright owners for including the full video/audio in the reaction, it would be considered copyright infringement, but given it is also put behind a paywall could also be considered piracy with the intent of profiteering and in the US could be resulting in serious fines and jail time.

I'm also aware of other Patrons doing that, and I'm not as well versed in the legal issues as others, but I like to be in control of the video and audio quality of the watch alongs. Those other Patreions that supply the videos supply really shoddy video and audio quality.

Killua X

@gabor arki sigh, there's always that one guy. there is so much going on in the US right now, i promise you that "this" is the LEAST of anybody's worries. the majority of Patreons are doing MORE than what i just proposed, you just "dont talk about it" and everything will be fine. seriously though, you're not a lawyer and you're not her lawyer so please just stop talking about legalities. (i know what i'm talking about)

Killua X

im sorry, i dont mean to offend anyone. but honestly, everybody does it. and what i said is true, i can confidently say that around 65% of Patreon has been doing much much worse than i proposed for YEARS and are still thriving. nobody cares (but people like you). and that's just reality

Philip G.

What do you mean there's always that one guy lol this is literally why nobody does full reactions with video intact. You're solution is just don't talk about it and sweep it under the rug? Watch when those other reactors channels get pulled. This is a business!

Colin Gutierrez

"Everybody's doing it" and "This is the least of your worries" are not valid legal arguments, so your claim of knowing what you're talking about is less than credible.

Killua X

"literally why nobody does full reactions with video intact" = false. many many big reactors do it. anyway i wasn't making valid legal arguments. i simply asked if she ever thought about it. and then you guys come in like the police completely missing the point. just forget it lol.
