I enjoy Cassie's reactions, but OZ is one I'll definitely skip. Hope she enjoys it though. Hopefully we'll get a reaction to both Casablanca and 12 Angry Men at some point.

While Kane is a classic film, it's really only enjoyable at this point by film students and people who really enjoy that genre. I remember watching "The Greatest Movie Of All Time" as my instructor called it my freshman year of college and sitting there asking myself "What the hell is so great about that?" It's like reading "The Lord of the Rings". It's absolutely amazing literature, but Tolkien needs 2 1/2 pages of text to describe a leaf. It isn't exactly an easy read.

Texas Anla'Shok

I think it’s something everyone should see at least once if for no other reason than media keep referring back to it.

Texas Anla'Shok

I’m quite astonished Twelve Angry Men did as well as it did.

Oz is above all a family film - bring your sister!! Not sure what I want for the second. I've been heavily Team Rear Window, but I'm not sure it's the best counterpoint to Oz. I'll be happy with any of these finalists though.

Robin T

It would be a shame to nominate four Hitchcocks and not have any of them finish. Again.

Charles Mills

I'll watch. I grew up with it and can't imagine an adult seeing it for the first time. But I'm right there with you on those two plus "Rear Window." I'd love to see her do "Rear Window" with her sister to see them trying to follow the clues as the plot zigs and zags.

William Bryan

Fun fact- I was the first to comment when Cassie needed suggestions for movies before 1960. I suggested Oz. :D hahahah

Charles Mills

I had not thought about it as selecting a counterpoint. Oz is famous for using both sepia and color. "Casablanca" has film noir which is a counterpoint. Plotwise and setting wise "12 Angry Men" is so tightly set that it is an opposite.

Verteron

Oz is just one of those movies for me. I didn't like it as a kid, I don't like it as an adult. I understand why it's a classic, but just doesn't do it for me. But, it's not my channel, so I hope she enjoys it and people enjoy the reaction. I'll eagerly wait for other movies.

Omg, has anyone else noticed that Seven Samurai beat North by Northwest in the first round, then lost to it in the losers bracket by almost the same ratio? 🤣

Aaron Ritchie

If you’re watching The Wizard of Oz, I highly recommend watching the sequel Return to Oz at some point. It’s much more faithful to the original Oz novels, which were famous for being seriously dark and twisted.

Sean Novack

Opinions vary. Personally I can't comprehend why someone would choose 12 Angry Men over Ben-Hur.

Verteron

Agreed. Runtime....3.5 hours vs 1.5 hours. One could watch 12 Angry Men twice in the time it takes to watch Ben-Hur. Simple matter of time savings. =)

Sad to see "Rear Window" didn't make it. But maybe it will mean she does it with her sister someday. I doubt it will rank high in the Hitchcock brackets.

It's like a creepy, twisted version of WoO, which is probably why I liked it better than the original, yet I understand why it wouldn't be to everyone's tastes.

Catherine LW

I don’t think a single Hitchcock film made it. That’s sad. Lost in the suspense poll and now this.

Robin T

Agreed, just do a Hitchcock bracket at some point. Or don't - the winners will be Rear Window and Psycho anyway hehe. Though it would be nice to include something older, like Notorious or 39 Steps.

Catherine LW

At least Rear Window won Shan’s poll. And Mia Tiffany is doing a month of Hitchcock- chronologically: Rebecca, Notorious, Rope, Rear Window, Vertigo, North by Northwest and Psycho.

Charles Mills

For the "2001" fans, I was just watching a young reactor who was so-so about it, but at the end of another reaction she started talking about it. That's what it does. It is like an earworm for the mind. Hard to dismiss, it burrows in.

Bill Poulter

Forget the poll and just do like Mia Tiffany --- a whole month of Hitchcock! For what it's worth, Rear Window will always be my favorite Hitchcock film After that, hmmmmm....maybe "The Birds"??? I don't know if Cassie could get through that! LOL
