If you're still considering Dragon Tattoo, then react to the Swedish version. The USA/Hollywood version was awful.

Train to Busan would be an outstanding choice for "Scary-But-Not-TOO-Scary-October." Carly would be able to handle this one, too. Honestly not much gore/blood, and, rarely for a horror film, it's very well acted.
