I've always loved shots in old anime where not just the characters are drawn and fully animated, but the backgrounds too. Shots like this one:

Here I've been experimenting with the usual basic 3D background rendered out as lines, with a hand-drawn character on top. It looks quite jerky because it's just the keyframes right now, (it's running at 12 frames per second, or "on twos" as the pros say). Over the next couple of days I'll add inbetweens and pump it up to 24 frames per second. When it's all coloured and shaded it should look quite nice, I hope!

I actually think 12 fps runs fine especially for animation

All those lines are at the same time really impressive and terrifying, knowing that you have to color and shade all of that.
