Today we are testing the flow of our coolant because we have a suspicion that this is the culprit of the overheating ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

ok so you have plenty of flow from the pump, that type of pump does not build pressure so don't worry about that. the pressure builds over time from the temperature increase. i would put the hoses back like normal , no thermostat, fill your system, start the engine and see if you have flow. there could be some blockage some where in the engine or an air pocket, the head gasket is a possibility but you would have signs like steam in the exhaust, or coolant in your oil ( your oil level would appear over filled and it would look like coffee with cream) . for an air pocket, look in the manual for a bleed location.

Thank you so much for the advice Philippe! We also considered an air pocket so we... well ... burped ๐Ÿ˜… the engine. There shouldn't be any more air pockets in the system but there may still be reduced flow which we are currently testing, like you saw in the last update. The flow of coolant on the heat exchanger side seems restricted. We hooked in an external pump and it seems that might be the issue. We are really hopeful its not the head gasket as there is no smoke, no misfiring in the engine (it actually turns on like a charm and purrs like a kitten). We are looking to do some more checks today and will upload another update shortly. Big big hugs and lotsa ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿงก from both of us!

Also just been a few forums for your engine type . For other overheating checks I read, clean raw water pump, the strainer, diesel injectors ( can get blocked bad) and also, stupid as it may seem check no belts are slipping ๐Ÿค” Stay safe guys fingers ๐Ÿคž for yous โค๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡บ

Thank you so much for your insight and good wishes Jason! We were very stressed and worried, and really at the end of our knowledge. But the wonderful comments such as yours kept us going because we know we are not alone in this! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ™ Our internet provider Digicel was down for a few days so we were not able to reply earlier.... turns out we finally found the issue - Luckily it wasn't the injectors or the head gasket - our biggest fear. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ .... Again thank you so much for sailing with us Jason! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜˜
