Living on a boat means, that a lot of my life happens outside. Come rain or snow, if SV CUBA isn't safe at anchor, we have to be ready on deck until our home is secure again.

Sometimes it can be tough. Waking up in the middle of the night to re-anchor while the wind is howling is no rarity.

But those challenges also force me to experience nature more fully in such a wonderful way. Seeing the sunrise over the horizon after a rough night at sea and the wind calm once a squall passes, can be a very rewarding experience.

Being bound to nature's temper also means it's difficult to adhere to those schedules on land. Instead, you might find us strolling through a neighborhood before everyone else wakes up.

It often gives me such a strange yet thrilling experience of exploration. And it is easy to stumble into unexpected places and locations, devoid of people that at other times of the day might be bustling.

Time of day and weather can award a place with a certain energy and a particular aura. It is then, that we love to capture a glimpse of that special light and feeling in a photograph.
