You think sailing can be thrilling? Sometimes boat life even at anchor can be scary! Storm & Lightening - mother nature threw a spectacle for us this week on Sailing SV CUBA as we anchored near one of the most dangerous islands in the Med.

In this episode, we leave our sailboat at anchor for one of the most amazing experiences of our lifetime – a climb to the peak of a volcano, at night. 🙈😀

Yet soon after things turn for the worst, and we are hit by a massive lightning storm. ⛈⚡

Volcanos are super interesting but can be quite dangerous. The last time I was near one I also got caught in a lightening storm. I found out the charged particles from volcanoes climb into the atmosphere and unleash their fury! Sometimes you can even see it in the eruption itself. Just keep wearing those ugly shoes Sarah!

The adventurous spirit in full display! Great footage.

That's what we thought too must happen in the area. Sicily is notorious for its lightening storms. But we really did not want to miss the opportunity to walk up Stromboli. It was such a once in a lifetime opportunity.
