For all my life I loved the outdoors. At every opportunity, I ventured out to explore. What started with hiking and cycling tours that lasted from dawn till late at night turned into extensive paddle-boarding expeditions once we moved to southern Spain.

And while we still lived on land, we hardly ever spent any time at home. Whenever the conditions were right, we’d pack our boards, drive down the coast, paddle until our arms gave up, and then took the bus to drive back to where we’d parked.

During this time, I also discovered my or rather our passion to capture moments and memories of the places we’d discovered along the way in the form of photography. Oftentimes we were able to reach locations on our boards that were otherwise cut off from reach.

On my board I could quench my thirst for exploration, move almost silently across the water, and around every corner, we could discover a new canvas for our photography.

We’d go for a swim when it got too hot or picked up the pace to warm up when there was a chill in the air. We would unpack our lunch while floating past towering cliffs or stumble upon abandoned places forgotten in time.

To me, there is a certain magic to spending a day like this. Taking the potential of our paddle-boards to the fullest, gave me a real sense of adventure that ignited a spark.

It was what inspired us to turn our lives around and become full-time nomads at sea:  A life that allows us to discover and share the moments we capture on our expeditions into the wild.
