Hey lovely peeps,

We have sailed down to Georgetown in the Exumas to extend our visa for the Bahamas.

3 months just went by waaay too quick. There are so many amazing places here, we could stay for years and still, we wouldn't have been able to see them all.

We hoped to stay for one more month and then planned to head down with hurricane season approaching.

But unfortunately, the visa extension regulations here are a little restricted and we can only extend for an entire year. 🫣🫣

Of course that wouldn't be an issue but the cruising tax in the Bahamas is pretty hefty and paying an entire year (approx. 500$), for the stay of one month just wouldn't make sense.

In addition, we were told that if we extend for a year but check out for more than 90 days, our permit would expire. Peeeew what a shame.

So, in true CUBA fashion, we turned lemons into lemonade and got to work.

Initially, we aimed for Guadeloupe since it is one of the easiest places to go - kind of ad-hoc - with our furry crew. 🐈‍⬛️😸

But we also send our crew papers to a few other countries along the way south.

Guess what? The British Virgin Islands welcome our kitten family. 🥳🥳

And we no longer have a 1000NM passage but "only" around 750NM ahead of us. 🤪

Well, but that's how the crow flies. And we probably have the trade winds on our nose.

So, now all we had to do is pick up provisions in our oversized backpacks, get some drinking water (which is freely available right by the dinghy dock in Georgetown), and some fuel for CUBA (also very conveniently found right opposite the dinghy dock).

It's all coming together, guys. 💪💪 Georgetown is making it easy for us.

Now, we just need to fix our mainsail and do an oilchange. 😆😆
