Hey lovely peeps!

We are preparing for our next leg toward Georgetown and are soon to lift anchor in Norman's Cay.

-- Jupp, we are still outta cooking gas 😅😅 and those small bottles are vanishing fast!

In the past few days, we researched for the best passage to exit the Exumas Bank so we can set course to Georgetown.
Since this side of the islands is incredibly shallow, the tidal changes can be pretty drastic. At times it is almost like being anchored in a river here near the channel at Norman's Cay.

Dotham Cut approx 40NM looks like a good option for us to pass through.

The plan is to anchor near the cut the day before we'd go through so we can observe the tidal change first hand. (We noticed official information isn't always spot on and ofc we don't want to encounter any surprised when we are already halfway in the cut with CUBA).

We might take Viva - our dinghy around the narrowest point at tidal stop to just get an overview of the conditions beforehand.

We read that this cut is wide and easy but some first hand accounts tell a different story.

Still it looks like the best option for us.

Wishing you all a sunshiny day,

Kiki and Salsa and the furry crew ⛵️🩵

I have done the dotham cut quite a few times. The trick is to go through at slack. If you can't, then make sure you don't go wind against current. Otherwise, you will have 2 meters waves in your face. You can also use galliott cut. I know it seems shallow to get there, but I have a 2.1m keel and did it tons of times.
