Okay, what did you think of the level of romance between Vir and Maiya at the end of this arc? Would you have preferred it if it was a slower burn & there was less romance, perhaps saved for later, or do you think it was just right?

It was okay. Nothing great but I am not interested in romantic entanglements for the sake of it, but I get it. It did seem a little superficial though. I would have looked for a more in-depth exploration of the bond rather than the timing of it. It did feel too rushed and brushed off for the final outcome during the fight.

As a reader, it's not what i wanted. However, it did feel true to the characters. They're obviously young and awkward and inexperienced with all things romantic. Rushing into a *peck* of a kiss fits raging hormones matched with first love and awkwardness of youth. However, i can't say it's something i think should be continued. Two main reasons: one is that their feelings are pretty much from trauma bonding which is an extremely toxic reason to have a relationship. Two, length of separation. Idk how long you're planning the ash and demon realm arc(s) to last, but realistically this should be an epic journey for him that takes place over multiple years, especially if he needs to become stronger than his predecessors. Realistically, for a teenager thats too long to wait on a week old relationship, especially one thats as flimsy as theirs. Like even if he wasnt going on some journey and there wasn't a looming war and they were real people... the relationship wouldn't last.
