So this scene with Uriel pretending to be Raphael shows us how much Raphaels personality changed in the negative way. The scene is supposed to be funny, but it gives us an insight about his changes. I always thought that Raphael is a stoic character in general - right from the start and that his puns are just short bright moments to lighten the situation up. Turns out his personality was much brighter back in the days together with Uriel in general. At first I thought Uriel is a more complex and suffering character than Raphael, but Raphael is also very complex if you think about it. While Uriel ist hidden in Inferno as an exile, Raphael is kinda captured in Paradiso as the last survivor of the past Generation/Mettatrons genocide of the other angels- dealing with a manipulated and vanished history all alone and being completely lonely. Uriel was never completely lonely. He had Vetis and later he had Levia and now especially Luci and Luci as his closest beloved adoptive son is precious to him. Raphael had nobody because his only beloved person, his twin brother was the only partner he ever had. Raphael was completly left alone all by himself and that also explains why he directly sympathized with an emotional broken Shealtiel instead of killing him. He saw himself in Shealtiel: being left alone and abandoned by the world, so He connected to him wnd spared him. It is also shown that he still has massive bonding issues because Uriel leaving him alone left scars. That's why he became more stoic, didn't show any facial expressions/emotions and never reacted to personal questions. He is still extremely afraid of bonding and losing others again, resulting in being left alone again. It's sad to think that Uriel doesn't even know that his brother changed to be serious/stoic as a result of the past events and isn't the same Raphael he knows from years ago. They lost a part of their bonding. Also Raphael must be afraid and sad of losing Shealtiel again, because Mettatron is manipulating their relationship (which is fragile because of His bonding issues He didn't show Shealtiel how much he really cared about him) and with the halo he is completely helpless to interact. He must be thinking that he failed to protect Shealtiel. When he send Shealtiel Back to Uriel, He also tried to protect him, even If that meant He will be lonely again, but he acted selfless. Hakei, you are an amazing author when it comes to creating complex characters. you are doing that in a genius way, showing subtile moments in humourus scenes and also the deep character depth. I absolutely adore your writing and Im in love with the twins. Justice for Raphael and Uriel <3 they both suffer so much in a different way
