With the Human Empire, Alien Hives, and Two Legendary Models, we've got a lot we are eager to show. This is what you can expect next month and and a roadmap for the months to follow.

August New Releases

It is the Engineer's time to shine for the Human Empire. This hero is available with crossbows, pistols, rifles, sniper rifles, mounted and more. The Engineer also supports the heavy weapons and technology of the Human Empire such as this month's Volley Gun and the Steam Tank which is available with a wealth of options and loadouts. Finally the Mounted Marksmen are able to get firepower just where you need it on the battlefield with their selection of ranged weaponry.

August will be the third and final release of the Alien Hives Re-Work, and they're not only going out with a bang, but with a roar and the ground quaking beneath their titanic footsteps! The Hive Lord, Toxicorex, Devourer, Artillery Beast, and Mortar beasts are large and looming threats on the battlefield, but the massive Alien Hives Titan, one of our two Legendary Models releasing this month, towers over them all. To support these impressive models, you'll have the Raveners, Guards, and Spores to fill out your forces.

As we mentioned above, the Alien Hives Titan is just one of two Legendary Models we will be releasing this month. The other is the huge Duchies of Vinci Bear Titan. This colossal model serves as both an assault vehicle and weapons platform.

We're also going to be releasing four different terrain sets in August, one for the Ratmen, one for the Blessed Sisters, and two for the Jackals. For FTL, the Alliance Fleet will be released.

For our 2D offerings, the Duchies of Vinci 3rd set will be releasing as well as the debut of the Plague Daemons, and you'll also receive the 2D Alliance fleet as well as terrain sets for the two factions and our Space Terrain set. The 2D models are a fast and affordable way to get some great looking armies on the table.

Project Roadmap

Looking into September, the Human Empire will have a Captain mounted on a Pegasus to lead the troops, including the new hired Mercenaries, from the sky above, as well as the Beamer Wagon and Rocket and Mortar Artillery weapons.

Next we're extremely excited to see the first release of the Dwarf Guilds. We're going to start off with the Champion and Rune Master heroes as well as the Warriors and the Support and APC to get them where they need to go!

About the Alien Hives Re-Work!

Now those of you that have been around for a while know that we originally released the Alien Hives back in September 2020, so you might be wondering what the Alien Hives re-work is.

The short story is that over the last 3 years, OPR has improved the quality of sculpting and completeness of unit releases to the point that the Alien Hives don't feel up to snuff anymore. Whilst we love the range as a whole, there are many units that are missing weapon options, and there are key models that we don't think look neither good, nor consistent with the rest of the army.

Over the last few months, we have been working on a re-fresh of the units, updating 99% of them either with some new weapons, improved texturing, or by making completely new takes of existing models. We're also going to be updating a few models with adjusted poses, so that they fit on their intended base sizes better.

Here's a WIP example of our new take on the Flamer Beast:

We know that a lot of you have either purchased the Alien Hives models recently, or were originally supporting back in 2020, so we wanted to clarify what will happen with the models, and how they will be released.

Since this is the re-release of an existing army, we will be doing a shorter 3-month cycle for them, instead of the usual 6 months it would take to release such a big army. That means that you'll be getting double the amount of sci-fi models you usually get each month!

As part of this cycle, each month you will get 3 brand new takes on existing units, as well as an additional 7 re-worked units with either new weapons, improved texturing, or adjusted poses. This way if you already bough the models, you're still getting something new each month, on top of all the improvements to things you already had.

Here's a WIP example of some new weapon options for the Hive Warriors:

"What happens to the models I already bought?" - you may rightfully ask:

  • Models that are only getting new weapons, improved texturing, or adjusted poses will be automatically updated in your MMF library. This means that even if you decide to stop supporting over those 3 months, you will still be getting those updates.
  • Models that are getting completely new takes will be archived on MMF, meaning that you will still be able to print them as they were, but they won't be available for purchase anymore. This means that you don't have to worry about losing access to the original look of those models you paid for.
  • The only exception is the Hive Titan, which is getting a hybrid of improved texturing and a new take, so it will be archived on MMF as well. This means that the new Hive Titan will not be updated in your library, so that you get to keep the original look of it.

Here is a comprehensive list of all the models you will be getting, and how they are being re-worked. Note that only the Swarms and Spores are staying the same, and so they are not being listed here. (But they will still included with the release of the other models.)

Models that are being re-posed:

  • Assault Grunts
  • Shooter Grunts
  • Winged Grunts
  • Soul-Snatchers
  • Snatcher Lord

Models that are being re-textured:

  • Synapse Floaters
  • Venom Floaters
  • Toxico-Rex
  • Psycho-Rex
  • Hive Titan

Models that are getting new weapons:

  • Hive Lord
  • Prime Gunner
  • Assault Prime
  • Winged Prime
  • Hive Warriors
  • Hive Guard
  • Ravenous Beasts
  • Shadow Hunter

Models that are getting re-made:

  • Carnivo-Rex
  • Burrower
  • Artillery Beast
  • Spawning Beast
  • Devourer Beast
  • Tyrant Beast
  • Flamer Beast
  • Mortar Beast
  • Invasion Spore

Here's a WIP example of our new take on the Burrower:

We hope that this explanation has been clear, and we are very excited to get these awesome models into the hands of more people. If there are any doubts, please let us know in the comments, and we will clarify. :)

Oh, and in November we're releasing the Vampiric Undead.

Here's a roadmap for the next few months:

  • September - Human Empire & Dwarf Guilds
  • October - Human Empire & Dwarf Guilds + New Welcome Pack
  • November - Vampiric Undead & Dwarf Guilds

That's it for now, happy wargaming!

Kevin Brusky

Yep, I've been waiting for a vampire army!

Garth Bayley

Fernando Lima

Guys, are you planning any rework on the mummified undead?

Jeremy Bernhardt

Some people call me a space dwarf Some call me the vampire of love

Martin Diaz

Finally the Vampiric Undead! I just finished a ghoul troop for that army!

Christopher Guzy

Too bad it starts AFTER Halloween.

Brandon Ryan

Very excited for Dwarf Guilds and Vampiric Undead!! I’m guessing as for Alien Hives there’s no plans on including new models/units parallel to the new releases from “that other game”?

Steven Côté

Super excited to see Vampiric Undead! Can I ask now while it's early days if we can get 10 poses of zombies and skeletons rather than the usual 5? There's going to be so many of those marching across the table, having as many unique models as possible will go a long way.

Ragathiel

Dwarf Guilds! Yesss, I've found myself feeling just so-so on the Votan models so the OPR treatment is just what I need

Excited about the vampirism undead and dwarves, excellent work as always

Tyler Doyon

Dwarf Guilds are a DF army. The link leads to a GDF list and a preview posted on I think the discord was a space Dwarf.

Vlad G

Excited for Dwarf guilds!

Kevin Walker

Vampire Undead! Huzzah! Okay looking forward to all of the above! :)

Mikhael Meltzer

No one mentioned little octupus helper with a scope! Level of cuteness can match even cuteface Ratmen giant beast.

Empire is something I dramatically miss from WHFB. I loved their militia feel and the different styles and more homogeneous look of the 'regulars' style troops. Certainly no Dwarves...but Empire was a great freaking race with tons of character. I thank you for covering them. I can't wait to build a new Reikland or Middenheim army.

Uriah Ronin

I always look forward to every release you guys drop! Your team is incredible! Keep up the great work!

Helmut

For me no dawrfs......there are soooo many dwarfs allready done in the STl market . The empire was a fantastic range, but after that I will left your patreon.

Benjamin

Vampiric Undead ... now I'm excited.

Juan Carpintero

I was wondering when the OPR option for sci-fi dwarfs would materialize. I can't wait to see how well they mesh with the Mantic figures. I have a ton of steel warriors from their Kickstarter way back when.

Adam Lay

Those Aliens look incredible! Especially the Mortar Beast, Artillery, Devourer, Toxico-rex, Ravenous Beasts, Hive Guardians :D

Blaqloq

Space Dwarves and Vampires. What a special holiday season it will be? 😀

Diego Ortúzar

Will we get the bug-looking artillery from last month?

Daniel Dromey

Dig, dig, dig, diggity

This looks really great, love how the new Alien Hives are turning out! Any update on when we are getting the Invasion Spores? Also, will you do a model of the Rapacious Beast, or which one of your models would you recommend for it? I can't really find a suitable model for it as Alien Hives don't have many large flying models that would fit, apart from maybe the old Invasion Carrier.

onepagerules

We don't have any info on the release date yet, but hopefully soon. As far as the Rapacious beast, the old Invasion Carrier seems a good fit. We don't have any further model announcements to make at this time.

Aliakai Gauch

I subscribed mid-July, are you planning on grouping release 1 into a bundle the way you had with previous releases? Or do we need to get those models separately for the refresh?

Ellie

I can't wait for the Vampiric Undead. I am a huge Vampiric undead fan. I have been waiting for this for the last couple of years that I have been supporting one page rules. Thank you.

Jarra Joseph-McGrath

I think what could work really well would be the body of the Archived Hive Titan and the wings of the Winged Hive Titan.

A Viking Paints

Interesting, thank you for the suggestion. I am not very good at kitbashing but I will definitely have a look.
