Age of Fantasy Lore Focus #6

Every week we're highlighting the lore of a few factions for each of our games, and this week we're focusing on Age of Fantasy's Ratmen, Saurians, Goblins, and Eternal Warden. These four factions are deeper than they may seem at first glance.

You can read about them on our website.

3D Print - New Previews

Some more previews for our August models are available at the top of this post. The Human Empire's artillery is one of their core strengths, and to support it is the Engineer. This hero model is available on foot or mounted on a mechanically enhanced horse. The Volley Gun and its crew benefit greatly from the support of an Engineer, and is able to throw a large number of attacks into enemy units.

For the Alien Hives, the Devourer Beast is a joy to any player wanting to have a large powerful monster at the head of their forces. With high toughness and the option to gain regeneration as an upgrade, the Devourer can withstand a lot of punishment. It's deadly accurate tongue attack can even eliminate key targets at range.

Please remember that these are early WIP shots of the models, and not the final versions of the models.

That's it for this week, happy wargaming!

That "Kraken Kannon" that is amazing. I am going to use it for my D&D campaign for sure. The empire is starting to become my favorite army you guys have made so far.

Von Divo

My Empire army needs Mounted Wizards. Not to be a pain...they're just so darned versatile and their threat range with games lasting only four turns I find really keeps opponents on their toes

I would prefer not to have squids on the helmets so perhaps a head without the squid helmet. I would like to see the squid part of the multi-barrel cannon fit over a mechanical structure. This will help fit in with historical and other fantasy armies. Overall the models look good.

I am not really feelin these.

Justin Boettner

I like the miniatures. I don't like the look of the horses that much though, they just look too happy as if they just ate the wrong mushrooms.

Ragathiel

Squid hat! Squid hat!

Not to nitpick but the way the engineer is holding the big rifle looks off. feels like his arm should be a bit further down the barrel if he doesn't want the kick back flying in his face

Really like the models over all. Hate the octopus on the big gun. I think they look so stupid. The guns themselves look great. Went from pig mascots to octopus on cannons etc. Lol.

I agree I like the horses but they do look a little over happy lol. Mushroom high!

Jeremie Lasseigne

agree that a non-squid helmet option would be nice; maybe something conquistador styled would fit the general look.

Fomorian

All these models are really amazing with a ton of details! I really like them :))

Dave Harfield

Non-octopus versions would be great.

Im not at all keen on the octopus theme

Alessandro Giuliani

I concurr; Even of I find all those octopus quite funny they are too preponderant; A version witout would be great

Sebastian Hurtz

As far as I experienced it OPR doesnt give much about supporters opinions or wishes. We are a minority too i guess😄

Matthew Riley

Given that the Human Empire in Tyria is heavily influenced by the 5 elements and their animal avatars, I highly doubt you're going to see much without the representative animal motif somewhere - and crafted weapons and armor are especially likely to incorporate the features where possible. Basically, these are in line with the background they were developed for, so don't expect them to be copies of historical models or GW's old Empire stuff...

Mikhael Meltzer

And kinda like that octopus design, resembles tradition to embellish big guns, also might be tribute to humans‘ naval strength that comes from cannons.

Niklas Scherer

Have you guys Seen the New Range of Empire Models? Would really Love to See those shielded gunners soon. Love your Models!

Ne Obliviscaris

Going to join in with the hopes we are noticed, definitely do NOT like the octopus themed stuff.

Are the 5 elements and their avatars based on something, or are they associations dreamed up specifically for this Human Empire?

Anonymous

The octopi just lazily slapped on their helmets and guns are really disappointing. Couldn't you at least work them into the designs better?

Anonymous

Technically it's not Empire stuff. It's AoS Cities stuff. Just so people don't get their hopes up for their use in OW

Loving the animal motifis. Makes the army real unique.

Paul Seghers

Digging to the octopus and other animal influences. Makes OPR humans unique. Keep up the great work

John Pacey

I like the Octopus but I think this is too much Octopus
