Grimdark Future Lore Focus #1

Over the last year we have been hard at work, re-writing all of the lore for all armies in both games, and now it's finally time to reveal it all. The new lore is available now on Army Forge, and we've updated the interface to make it easier to find the lore and learn more about each army.

For the next couple of months we're going to be making weekly posts to highlight the lore of 4 factions for each game, starting today. Read about the lore of the Battle Brothers, Human Defense Force, Blessed Sisters, and the Havoc Brothers on our website, and look forward to more soon!

OPR Writing Jam

Last week we hosted our 7th writing jam, and it was a blast!

The OPR Writing Jams are story writing marathons, where participants are asked to write a one-page story set in the OPR universe in 48hrs, following a common theme.

Here are the top 3 rated stories:

OPR Hangout Stream May 1st

Usually On the last week of every month, we're running an OPR Hangout stream over on YouTube, where we showcase upcoming releases, sneak peeks at future content, and have a Q&A session for you to get involved. Due to scheduling this will take place on the first of May instead.

3D Print - New Concept Art

The Human Empire concept art is featured at the top of the post, showing off some of the factions most iconic units coming out in June. The Human Empire General stands ready to lead the army with the support of the Standard Bearer to inspire the troops to victory. The Marskmen can put ranged firepower across the field and clear the path for the heavy hitting Gryph Riders and the concentrated might of the War Wagon.

And finally for our Legendary release, we return to the Robot Legions with the Great Seer. This massive robot towers over the battlefield.

Oh wow these concept artworks are absolutely friggin amazing! 😲 The Empire sculpts will be so epic with all these details and I am mostly curious for the Marksmen esp. with all their weapon options! The new RL Legendary is huge and mind blowing! 🤯 Good job @OPR team!

Cool ideas about lore. Personally, I'm going with my own head cannon though. The alien hives lore seems a bit strange though. The idea that organisms made with specialized roles by the hivemind could request rights is a bit off. Presumably, the hive mind makes these creatures in an efficient manner, putting only the parts needed and not with extraneous bits like complex brains for sentience and individuality. The idea that a hive grunt with a specialized body for slicing and killing prey or a flying grunt with an acid launcher in its mouth wants to now campaign for rights is silly. What rights exactly? To sit and relax in the jungle? A cup of coffee? Healthcare? This is a communal organism like ants not some human analogue ready to read tracts about rights and philosophy. I get that its all "fake" but asking for internal consistency isn't too much. I love the robot legion and anything to do with them is awesome. Even maybe remaking them too

a _tad_ disappointed we're getting a robot legions legendary when the Great Wraith is right there and there are lots of unexplored armies out there still. It does, however, look very cool.

I’m hoping you end up creating a proxy for a specific character. Elspeth Von Draken, who I never bought because her model was so expensive and is now quite out of print even among recasters.

Some variety is nice, but when it's all the poses it starts to look silly when you start having duplicates. I try to replace the rock with something else like a natural rock that matches my basing or another item like an ammo box or body. but this doesn't always work with every theme.

Hi, this allready looks great! Is there a chance for some arms for the footsoldiers not holding the shield? Because halberd and shield really doesn't make any sense at all ^^. Maybe some two-handed halberdiers would be also a nice option, but I can imagine that it's a lot of work.

It can also help to mirror the print and replace the rock not completely but something else to do to mix it up.

Forgive me if this has been done to death, but I'm new here and was wondering about the Battle Brothers? The lore being released for this faction made me go look for the accompanying models. There don't seem to be any?

There were some early Battle Brothers STLs but they were retired because they weren't up to OPR's standards. I think they're far far down the list of factions to-do though.

They haven't done the Battle Brothers faction yet, and the way they decide which faction to do next I wouldn't expect to see them for a long time. Not to worry though, there are plenty of other creators doing gene-forged super soldiers in power armor. My personal favorites are the Tempest Legion from The Makers Cult and The Socratis faction from Station Forge.

My previous post was a bit long but I wanted to mention again that the alien hives are looking awesome. Can’t wait to do my pacific rim theme for them! I also love anything robot legion too

I just went through new lore of my favourite factions and I would just like to say a Huge Thank You for great job. I just love how Machine cults lost the negative vibe and gained nicely neutral background to fit both Grimly dark distopian sides of their Giegeresque body horror as well as posibility to create Startrekishly positive feel of possilke utopia. Thankx, realy.
