OPR Website - New Website Info

We're happy to announce that our new website is live: https://www.onepagerules.com/

We have been working hard at making this happen for almost a year now, and are extremely happy that the new website is finally here. This is the first step towards the future for OPR, and the future is looking bright!

In the coming months, you can expect for the website to be expanded further, with new dedicated lore sections for each setting, allowing you to dive deeper into the factions. Then, we'll also start releasing new short stories, which will first be in early access on Patreon, but will then be found for free on our website. After that we've got some more plans for world books, faction books, and more, but it's too soon to go into those now.

On top of that, we're slowly working on our new vanguard program (name not final), which will provide you with all the tools you need in order to kickstart your local OPR community, host events, participate in leagues, and more.

If you're looking to demo the games already now, make sure to check out the Get Started started section, where you can find free quickstart sets for most of our games, available both for 2D and 3D printing. Feel free to bring the quickstart sets to your local game store/club, or print our a few copies to give away (don't forget to sign up to our newsletter as well, to get more free minis that you can gift).

The new website is filled with awesome content for you, so feel free to explore it for a bit. Since the layout is a bit different, we've now also consolidated all of the army PDFs directly inside of Army Forge, so you don't have to jump between GDrive, WebApp and Army Forge anymore. After the many recent updates, we are going to keep v2.50 stable for a while, and then do some major updates to the games in the future, finally ending the beta period as well.

That's it for now, if you have any bug reports, please let us know on Discord. We hope you enjoy the new look and feel of our website! :)

Painting Contest - Category Changes

After talking to the community, we're changing the way our Army category works for the painting contest.

From now on, there will be a Unit category on a monthly basis instead, and then on the last month of each army's release we will have the Army category to show off everything at once.

3D Print - New Previews, Rat Ogres Updates

This week we get to preview some heavy equipment for the Ratmen and the Blessed Sisters, though the rats carrying the Ratmen Platforms seem well up to the task!

The Blessed Sister Battle Tank comes equipped with a variety of heavy fire power to choose from and the Exo Suit is capable of its own heavy lifting, this very early preview of the sculpt shows off the scale compared to one of the other sisters on foot.

Please remember that these are early WIP shots of the models, and not the final versions of the models.

This week we have updated the Ratmen Rat Ogres files on MMF, adding new combined versions with Spiked Knuckles and Claws. We hope you enjoy this free addition. :)

That's it for this week, happy wargaming!

The site rocks, and I can't wait for the vanguard program !

I can't wait for the Vanguard program either

Oh nice. I could use those rat ogres for Blood Bowl.

Am I being dumb or what. Because when I go to the get started section of the new site it just points me to the newsletter for 2 free minis. I mean I have stuff I can already print out but I thought if there was a themed get started pack for 3d print it would be a great way to invite new players in. Also think the vanguard idea is a cracker. Onwards we go....

Are there any plans to release army forge as a mobile app? I love the web version, but i dont have data on my phone, which tends to make changes or lookups on the fly somewhat cumbersome. If there is one already, and I'm just a putz, 1) i do not know how I missed that, and 2) let me know where it can be had! Thanks!

Bozz Connelly

This is all really cool! I'm glad to be supporting it and I'm really excited for the vanguard stuff as I've been trying to get something off the ground in my local area but to little avail so far.

Not feeling that sisters walker yet, but it's an early WIP.

Shadow fund

Hopefully it changes. The old style one was a lot better. But we will see. Fingers crossed

On this page: https://www.onepagerules.com/quickstart/grimdark-future At the bottom of the panel to the left, it says 'download now'. That takes you to a google drive with the starter sets and tutorial missions. I didn't see it at first either,

Drew Houser

Count me in, there’s nothing going on wargames-wise in my area so I’d LOVE to increase awareness and get some GF going around here!!!

Temo deGaunza

The exposed pilot look on the sisters walker is a bit of a jarring contrast to me. Should just go full mecha look, so it looks all in proportion. Maybe do a pilot cockpit with transparent canopy if you want to evoke the whole huge exo-suit look instead?

Eric

Is it wrong that part of me wants the file for that Sisters walker NOW, as-is? LOL

With the website, is there any chance e can have a Gallery? Even if it is just the winners, it would be a good source of inspiration

OMG these are so ridiculously cool! So many options for the Ratmen plessed platform. I wonder if it's gonna be modulable, because even I like all of them I'm not printing 10 platforms! To be able to switch what's on top with magnets would be awesome!

Alastair Smith

As someone who has entered the painting contest multiple times in the Army Category, I see the sense of the change to a unit category. While I did enjoy the army category, I found it put me under pressure to get enough mini's finished on time and I found myself leaning towards speed painting rather than my best artistic work. 30 Mini's is a relatively high bar. There was also the dynamic where large complex models, like an artillery piece or a war throne, counted as one mini, the same as a single rat or infantry piece. This led to trade off between painting interesting mini's and what was practical in time frames. Re the planned final month army category, I wanted to ask if it would be possible to have more than one photo? I ask this due to the difficulty of showing details on a large number of models in a single photo. Would it be possible to say have one primary photo showing the army as a whole and then say 2-5 secondary photos showcasing aspects of it?

Stephan Schany

You could extract and print the different shells (3D elements) separately - and adding pegs and holes to just swap them is easy in meshmixer (or blender), no magnets needed (make the pegs half a millimeter smaller in diameter than the holes). You would essentially need the priest, both platforms and all four options. The priest itself is optional (adds Resistance against magic attacks) and the hole could be hidden by just putting a regular monk (or a rat swarm, if you want more focus on the mini rats) there.

Zachary Petriw

I don't disagree with Alastair. It was a bit nuts when you'd want to add larger units, knowing that you needed 10+ total while someone else can just submit it under "Solo". The first month with 30 rats almost killed me, lol. Hence the swarm of Giant Rats in the last month. :) The squads aren't a bad idea. Regarding the photo, I think it's possible to take a single photo, but you do need to put a lot of thought into the framing of it. And with each month, it becomes harder to keep old units in the shot. I would cycle them out, depending on what the picture needed. Or I'd add units that missed the window (like my Grenadiers) in the following month. It is more stressful than it seems. I can swing either way, though I do like the existing "one and done" approach.

Alastair Smith

A simpler change that would help while sticking with one photo would be to change aspect ratio requirements: allowing for greater horizontal width rather than a square would make it easier to frame an army.

Zachary Petriw

I think the idea is that winners go up on their IG so it's easier when it's square off the top. But yes, the framing is hard. 😅 I use pencils to mark off my field of view lines and then line up the minis inside those lines.

For now be sure to check out our Instagram - a lot of painted minis are featured there. https://www.instagram.com/onepagerules/
