It seems like every day things keep getting busier and busies with OPR, but amongst the chaos of setting up new stores and trying to market the games, I was still able to get some actual game designing done.

Season 2 of the arena games is starting on Patreon this month, and to get everyone ready I've released the common tactics boards + upgrade cards, as well as the hex-boards for this season.

This season the common assets are fully focused on heroes, giving you access to a ton of powerful abilities to boost your leaders. Pair these with your faction's boards + cards, and you can get some really cool combos going.

For the hex-boards, we've got 1 basic open board, with the other 2 providing bunched up terrain compared to the season 1 hex-boards.

One of the hex-boards has a long barricade surrounded by starting hexes, which can be used to set up forward defenses near the enemy board, or reverse it to have a safe spot for long-ranged units. Then there's a hex-board with a massive triple deadly-hex location, which is going to lead to some really bloody fights.

We're going to be adding the 3 missing warbands (battle sisters, infected colonies, kingdom of angels) in the coming days, after which we'll only be adding new warbands as the corresponding 2D models are released.

GFF: Gang Wars

Behold, the first mystery to be revealed this month!

That's right, we're currently working on a gang wars expansion for GFF, which is going to add a ton of new and interesting stuff to the game.

The plan for this release is separated in a few steps:

  • Review all of the existing gangs and weapons to make sure they feel right
  • Add any missing units that were released to the existing gangs
  • Add a new mercenaries gang to lump in robots and ogres
  • Start work on the gang wars expansion proper

The gang wars expansions is going be mainly focused on providing deeper campaigns, but will also give you a couple of extra bits that you can use outside of campaign play.

What you can expect are rules for how to play with different types of weird terrain, some new missions, random in-game events, random post-game events, new ways to specialize your gangers, as well as a territory control campaign structure.

Right now it's still just a bunch of notes scribbled around, but as it comes together we'll be showing off more progress (and we'll get Brandon to do some cool cover art too).

If you don't want to play with gangs don't worry though, the rules will be fully compatible with all armies that are available in the game. :)

Hell yeah! If we could get a little more tuning to the "kitchen table rules" for the gang wars that would be awesome! Can't wait for this to come out.

Any chance for an AOF gang expansion? Maybe fighting in the ruins of a once great city doomed by a cataclysmic event?
