I think i saw somewhere that this song was created during In The Soop season 1, also saw that yoongi said it was suppose to be an OT7 song as well. I forget why yoongi ended up making it his own song but im sure someone will say it or you’ll see it eventually somewhere. I think most Armys said that they believed that call he got about his dad’s cancer was also during in the Soop, since he had left at one point during it. Amygdala also helps with fears, memories and emotions i believe and its also almond shaped hence why he was eating almonds in the video. He also said his mom used to tell him to eat almonds to help his Amygdala develop more. I also think those pills in the video are the antidepressants since i know he had problems with depression. Basically Agust D was made to help yoongi deal with his past trauma’s, i think in this video and his album he wants to let Agust D rest since i believe he knows how to deal with them more now.

I just want to thank you for showing your vulnerability with us. Amygdala was (is) not an easy video to watch. Thank you for uploading your reaction. Sending virtual hugs!

hi, just wanna clear & add some details it was not in the soop, it was during bon voyage season 3 in malta where yoongi had to return immediately to korea, but not clear if it's about his dad, they just said it was about personal matters.. also about eating almonds, it was not yoongi who said that, but the character from the book 'Almond' which he read in 'in the soop season 1' he also talked about some of the songs in the documentary & also in palette with iu & suchwita/rchwita episode with namjoon :)

Thank you so much! 💜 The first time watching this MV was kind of shocking for me too, because I never expected to see Suga so open and vulnerable about his struggles, - I mean, I listened to the album before the MV came out so I knew that the lyrics were already painful enough, but I had no clue that the visual representation will also be so explicit. And the most heartbreaking part for me was not even the accident or scar-making scenes, but the scene when he was crawling on the floor in trying to reach the door, and the camera emphasizes it turning the floor visually into a wall. But I am very glad that he seems to overcome his past at least to the extent which allows him to talk about it. And very thankful that he is so brave and decided to bring such topics to the public eye because it is very important to bring awareness, a lot of people struggling in their own ways and going through things that we sometimes cannot even imagine.

I'm currently in graduate school to become a trauma focused therapist and I have to say, this song and MV is just incredible. Yoongi did not have to share this with us. He's such a brave and generous artist. I love him so much.

Thank you for sharing this with us! A hard but very important watch. I just feel honored that yoongi chose to share this with us. Yoongi is definitely in a better place now - if you have time to watch the most recent Suchwita (Rchwita - Namjoon with guest Agust D), they talk about just how well he’s doing these days.

so, this is my personal interpretation of this trilogy. the scar is a visual representation of his pain, his hurting self, his past memories; that's why it's self-inflicted and not caused by other people. in a way, i believe he tried to give his pain a "real" form, a sort of alter ego, and by giving himself that scar, agust d was finally born, and he was someone he could "use" to express his ugliest feelings, his toughest times, his hurtful experiences. so 'amygdala' explains how agust d is born and i think that in both daechwita and haegeum he tries to k1ll the scarred agust d because he believes it's the only way he can finally let go of his past trauma. i also think that blonde scarred agust d in daechwita and policeman agust d in haegeum didn't exactly d1e. we never got to see blonde agust d d1e, he might still be alive right? and the "smirk" policeman agust d gave before being shot makes me think that he's aware he'll never actually d1e, just as pain will never actually leave yoongi. painful memories will be with us forever, i'm sure yoongi knows that too, and the only way we can move forward isn't trying to erase them, but fully accept them as part of us. that's why scarred agust d keeps coming back in different forms, because yoongi will never be able to get rid of him, because it's part of who he is. and he was the one who scripted both haegeum and amygdala's mv!!! everything that's shown in amygdala really is what he's been going through, (he's already talked about his mom's surgery)!!! so, the incident is a memory (he crashed against a car in his trainee days, he was working as a delivery boy and hid is pain and dislocated shoulder bc he thought that the company would let go of him as a trainee. instead they paid for his medical bill and college tuition fees so that he could leave his job and all his worries behind) and that triggers his brain and trauma in the mv. also, talking about the almonds, during 'in the soop' he was reading the book 'almond' by sohn won-pyung, it talks about this boy who is affected by an illness that prevents him from having emotions, meaning his amygdala isn't working well. since the amygdala is almond shaped, his mother makes him eat almonds bc she thinks that'll help make his amygdala work better. amygdala is so deep and hurtful and it takes a lot of courage to share our pain and trauma and i'm so grateful that he is in a better place mentally now and feels that he can share it with us. he said he's a lot happier now, but writing amygdala has been very painful and difficult for him.

I cry every time I watch this. He did such a good job to convey his emotions in this song. It's tough but lots of people struggle through this out similar feelings. Thank you for sharing!
