Joshua and Vernon had a radio interview, it's on youtube, should pop-up if you type in their names and "K-popular". That's a very cool interview, I didn't watch it whole but I've seen a lot of carats recommend it. from what i know, or from my observations, Joshua's mom is a single mother (ive never seen him mention his dad ever, but he mentions his mom every chance he has) and shua is a mama's boy. They write their own 'Thanks to' notes when they release full albums on the album and Shua would always leave a note for his mom, he would post pics on ig with his mom as well, so i think shua really wants to just make his mom proud and be a good son, just more vocal? about it than most ppl. And like you said i think he's a very very caring person, most times i would see seventeen members jokingly tease one member and shua is always there patting the teased member or hugging them as if reminding the member "its just a joke they dont mean it" kinda way. And he's Christian too so he would mention diligently going to church service when he was asked if he went to parties, he answered No i went to church service

I have somewhere back then that the opening statement in Joshua's ep actually meant something along the lines of when you reach a certain point in your journey, you just know that there's no going back. Then again, I'm not fluent in Hangul at all so.. Hehe.

Oh and also I agree with you too that maybe Joshua is a little bit more "for others" than himself - or may just at that point in time. But I feel like he is really one to take care of others. He is like a nurturing type like Seungkwan, but in more quiet ways. Joshua's one of my biases (I have 3J as my bias :(() and still he's the person I know the least about. He's also on the more quiet side on social media - compared to Hoshi and DK and Mingyu - so it's harder to get to know him and his thoughts more. I think you'll also get to know more about his personality on DK's episode.

I would agree with what others are saying. But he's also definitely one of those members that takes longer to get to know. I think maybe he is more private, but I'm not entirely sure. He also I think is extremely persistent, but maybe keeps his head down, but keeps the grind going. From what I see, he is genuinely very caring towards his members. One thing that might be subtle, but that you notice over time, is that he actively checks in to make sure people aren't being left behind or left out. He makes sure jokes land as jokes, and if someone is feeling off or awkward, he's often a comforting force, telling them they did a good job etc. Tbh, he just seems genuinely kind. That being said, he is also a massive troll and is decidedly in cahoots with jeonghan, the liar duo istg

I also would say, as some others have mentioned, he doesn't outright share things in the way others do, the fandom kinda just pieces things together from context, or answers to questions through the years, based on what he does or doesn't mention. So, no, you're not off base on thinking he's kind of a mystery member. He's beloved of course, but not known in the way some of the other members are

Thank you for your comment because this really helped. I didn't know he took his religion so seriously. That's actually amazing. If he only has his mom then his comment makes sooooo much sense. I'm the same and even though my mom has said she is proud, I'm still pushing and trying to make sure that she stays that way or is even more proud. So I get that. Joshua is such a fine human being. Wow.

Honestly that was the main vibe I got from Joshua. Especially in the soop. When he rode back with Dino so he wouldn't be alone. Even though he didn't care for football he did join the members. Even while cooking....I mean the list goes on and on. Then I was like wait a second... in that GoSe episode when they were back at Hoshi's high school and they were playing table tennis and he got so into it?? I was like....Whoooo are you??? Lmao! I just feel like Joshua is so multifaceted but we don't get to see everything. Which is pretty dope, I don't know. I like mysterious men. Mysterious Mister Lee 😂😭
