Art Explained Mini: Thumbnailing a Fat Cat (Patreon)
Content
I've just finished the rough sketch for this month's poll winner, and i figured i'd mention the technique that i'm trying out for it.
Since i've been drawing mini comics / sequences more frequently, i've been giving "thumbnailing" a go. This is where you do a basic outline of the page in low fidelity and then use that as a base for your actual lineart.
I'm really new to it, but already i've found it to boost my speed at drawing comics - and with the magic of digital art, expanding the sketch layer and then sketching over it to draw out more detail (as you can see above) is super doable and useful.
Also, having done a quick google, there's a great example of thumbnailing on this blog ( i just skim-read it and looked at the pictures, i recommend it! )
Anyways, i know Art Explained is a bit of a dead thing, but hopefully you found this interesting - or at the very least think the rough sketch is neat :) (let me know either way!)
