This is what your money is spent on, cold hard computing pc master race POWEEER! Turns out for what I do two 1070 water cooled and clocked is better and cheaper that a 1080 ti for use in blender, Want this up and running tonight ideally. Thank you so much for this as this would not be possible at all without your support, this equipment will help massively and I wont be sat there with a thumb up my ass waiting for so long. Director.

Haha good job! Bet ur excited to be putting those bad boys into action. Wonder how much quicker it'll be?

Wow, very nice! Hope you post a pic of it up and running as well. What case are you using?

fireboxstudio

Its Thermaltake x5 and the main reason I got one is that they have a ton of space, for up to 4 graphics cards with watercooling and they are designed to be stacked. So intention is to build a multinode render farm.

fireboxstudio

Its alive! and so much quicker. last render took about 1 hour 30 as it was heavy on the samples, now a swiftly working through this one in no time, hasnt completed yet but its about a third in a 5 minutes, so 20 min render predicted aint bad at all!

It's always awesome to see these updates with pictures of new gear. With this kind of hardware you will be able to chew through those animations a lot easier indeed ^_^ MSI was a great choice and the case looks very ideal ;)

VR AnimeTed

Omg that's a sexy case! I just built my dev system too. I opt'd for an older NZXT for access to the front HDMI port to quick connect/disconnect the VR headset, but I didn't know about this one and I never end up with the inside being configured just right when I build. I'll definitely be on the lookout for modular cases from now on.

Oh yes defiantly and its working great, the next big jump is a new motherboard, CPU, Ram, 1000w PSU and 2 more GTX 1070s (4 total) and it will turn green and start smashing everything! might nick name it the Hulk xD

I thought you would need something like a 1200 watt PSU for your setup :O But then again the 1070's have great power efficiency. Have you dicided on what CPU and amount of Ram yet? I think I read somewhere that blender likes Ram a lot xD

fireboxstudio

Oh you dont need anything near 1200 for this setup. If I remember right its about 150w per graphics card and cpu is about 160 currently so thats only 460w and it currently. Looking at about a 1000w platinum for 4 gpus and all the other bits too. Cpu still looking atm. Blender likes gpu ram for rendering mostly, and if you have 16gb normal ram your fine. :)
