Okay so let's try to be civilized and emphatetic with this thread. If a company offered 1,4 million to work two weeks in an nft project, what would you do?

BECAUSE I'M HAVING A CRYSIS RIGHT NOW AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO

honestly, for an environmental issue, I find it immoral to collaborate and finance the production of NFT. Obviously if you need money and fast it's a good option, but honestly they just seem like a bad fad to me.

I have a friend who's willing to "sell their soul" to NFTs because money's a hard thing to get these days for some people. If you need the money or want to be safe for a while, I would say yes. If you accept, you could at least rest assured that you asked your followers. Also you need to make sure they will pay the money.

It’s not your NFT, it’s theirs. So you’d just be doing commission work. Definitely accept.

Let’s be real here. The world is getting more unpredictable each day. The hard truth is that one of the things that can create a bit of stability is knowing that at the very least you have some money to fall back on. I don’t fully support NFTs, but as long as they really pay you with actual money in your bank, NOT stocks, NOT crypto, then I really think you should go for it. But you are the one in the position. Look at what the project really requires of you, and decided what is best for you and your family.

I would ask first if the amount is in cash or crypto since it seems too good to be true. Personally, I'm not into NFTs so please be careful and have a good contract if you ever accept. If you don't need that much money at the moment, I think it's better to focus on other projects instead.

A lot of these companies will only offer you a fraction of what they intend to make. And if they are that confident they may be planning a rug pull. Be careful they don't ruin your reputation! Also I would buy an NFT directly from you if it was on a responsible blockchain like solana, and not as an investment but just a way of buying your art.

It's a hard question with no obvious answer, but I've studied a little bit about this, so I hope I can help: -You should know how and when they're going to pay you. Cash? more NFTs? stocks? Most NFT projects are pure speculation and they might be planning on paying with the same NFTs you'll be making (which might have some value, but might also disappear completely overnight). Make sure it's concrete and trustworthy enough for you. -Understand their project. Does it make sense to you? Are you ok with your art being the face of it? Some NFT projects are actually really complex, and a lot more than just selling art on the internet (for example making a massive trading card game or videogame with the NFTs). If your pay is somehow connected to the success of the project, this is fundamental. Projects that make no sense will probably die quickly. -Know who they are. Do they have other projects before this one? Can you verify their past projects are real? if not they might be bullshitting you. -And most importantly: Are they in any way considering offsetting their carbon footprint? does their plan make sense and do you believe they will pull it through? are they even considering to measure their carbon footprint? if any of the answers is no, participating in this project will probably make you part of the huge environmental issue with NFTs. For an example that I think fleshes out the moral issue here: The fact that other people are willing to murder someone for money doesn't make you less of a murderer if you decide to do it yourself. Even if NFTs are not "murder", the impact on the environment might become a massacre on the long run if nothing is done about it. This is why I think you should know very well how they're going to deal with their wastes and make sure they act on it. Also, you should consider that many people in the art community stigmatize any artist who participates on NFTs just for doing it, even if they are overcompensating for their carbon footprint. Even if this hate makes no sense, since it's misinformation or just ignorance on their part, it's a cost you must asume. I'm not against NFTs as a concept, as long as effective environmentally friendly methods are used and there's actual value on the project (not just pure financial speculation). There are many initiatives that are looking to solve the environmental issue, so this offer might be a good chance if they are on that side of the coin. I hope this helps <3

Hey, I'm not that well known about NFTs, but my boyfriend is, so he offered me to write something in my stead: "Well, first I'd say: do you *need* the money? Like, do you have any monthly debts you have to pay, are you in a precarious situation, do you have a heavy medical condition that costs a lot to treat, that sort of thing? If yes, then you should accept, BUT, be aware of the following points: Lots, and I mean LOTS of NFT projects are rugpulls, the people behind may just as well run away with all the money, without paying you anything. If they rugpull, the NFT buyers may very well turn against you, harass you, send you death threats, or even try to doxx you (publicly release your adress and identity) You have to understand that the NFT community is incredibly toxic, and several artists in failed projects ended up with nothing, and even had to completly delete all their social medias to start from zero under another pseudo to escape from the harassment. Even if they don't rugpull, you may as well end up with your reputation as an artist ruined, as people really HATE NFTs right now. Also remember that if the company that made you that offer isn't located in your country, they may very well just *not* pay you, and there's very little you could do about it depending on the country where they operate (even without that, NFTs are pretty recent, so just explaining to a judge what the fuck this is all about could make you spend months in court) Nft's are very muddy, legally speaking, so if you do accept that offer, be sure to make a proper legally binding contract, I'd even advise you to consult an attorney for legal counseling. Do not accept payment in NFT, ask for payment in advance (at least a part of it), because if they intend to rugpull, they just won't pay you, or the NFTs they "payed" you with will end up worthless Also, be aware that NFT's can be built in with what are called "smart contracts", that can give back money for each subsequent sales, so it may be pretty profitable, BUT, those smart contracts can be totally bypassed by selling the NFTs on plateforms that simply don't take smart contracts into account, so do be carefull if most of your payment is promised under that form. Be also aware that NFT's are currently declining, and that I have rarely, if ever, heard of an artist being paid that much for an NFT project (that would be a 100% acceptable rate though, just that NFT projects tend to fuck over their artists and pay them a ridiculously small fraction of the money they intend to make, even though the art is like 50% of the project) Now, on a moral standpoint: NFTs are a scam. They are a gigantic pyramid scheeme, a way to launder money, to easily scam people and is also very well known to fuck over artists, stealing their art, their music, or whatever else, to sell them without their consent, or giving them any money, and people in the NFT community have absolutely NO problem with that, so you wont garner any kind of support from them if you do end up being fucked. There's also the problem that each NFT minted consumes in average just as much power as three US household consume in one YEAR, and that's for ONE NFT. They are also responsible in huge part for the component crisis that makes things like GPU and graphic cards incredibly pricy and hard to obtain right now. If you want to have more infos on NFTs, you can go and watch some of Callum Upton or KiraTv on youtube, as they tend to cover a lot of NFTs scams in their video, you could even try to contact them (I know that KiraTv do answer those kinds of mails) to have their opinion about it, as they are very immersed in that subject. If you have time, there is also that 2H long youtube video, called "Line Goes Up – The Problem With NFTs" by Folding Ideas (title is pretty self explanatory, so I'll leave it at that) And that will sound pretty antagonising, so sorry about that in advance, but: don't listen to all those people saying "oh but another artist would do it anyway", or "it's just commission work, it has nothing to do with NFTs, it's ok". That's not how people on the net will see it, and that's not how you may or may not see it, now or later. If you end up participating in a rugpull, you may end up depressed about it and just hurt your mental health. Other artists, or even your own fanbase could also very well just ostracize you."

Geez I had no idea there was so much to consider :o I would say heck yeah take it. That's a lot of money. But with any big deal like that there's always a good chance they might be trying to use you. So be careful. As for the ecological impact. I'm not sure it's worth your time to care. You refusing to prosper won't stop the "green" politicians from flying their private jets and making the environment worse with their fake concern. If you have that kind of money, then you can use it to help pay for a local environmental program. Either way, it's your choice. Accept the decision you make and don't worry about what could have been. Just be careful these guys aren't predatory

Always be prepared for the worst before you start anything new, so that you can at least be prepared when things do go wrong. If the worst outcome of the event is within your comfort zone, then why not try? But first, please protect your own interests and understand all the rules when negotiating with them.
