I've had this Satyr lady for a while and have never actually drawn her. I mean, the reason is because Elora, who I will most likely promptly return to drawing after this. But for now here is this other Satyr.

ShadowRy

Think I like the Satyr better than Elora, personally.

Pyriax

Snowskau designed her so it might just be something to do with that. Also I've been wondering if I should be calling her a Faun. I don't think there's a particularly clear rule here.

ShadowRy

I think the horns are more satyr like, but Fauns are considered nicer. /shrug

Being a fantasy and scifi writer, I felt I should know what the various mythological critters were for some of my stories. The distinctions between fauns and satyrs have been blurred, but the most telling one is that fauns are always depicted with goat legs and satyrs are not. Both were also always males, but fauns were often solitary minor deities, and satyrs were often depicted with other satyrs. Satyrs were considered wiser, somewhat like forest or mountain spirits. Pan from A Midsummer Night's Dream was a faun. Considering she has goat legs, she'd be a faun, but these days it's not a big distinction. Are you going to name her?

Pyriax

She definitely does seem to qualify as a Faun. I should have listened to Elora. I will probably get around to naming her if I draw her a second time, as for now I need to name my Tiger and Kestrel so I'm already backed-up on naming duties.
