Hello everyone! Nothing's changed at the moment; I simply want to keep everyone in the loop.

So at the moment, I've got a couple commissions in the works, and other than that all my commission slots on my other sites are full. Once I'm done with them, I'll be going on a (hopefully) brief commission hiatus in order to finish up a couple personal projects as well as revise my commission info and prices. Some, if not all of them, will be going up a bit due to some real-life financial stuff. I'll also be making a Trello page so my followers will have an easier time tracking my commission status.

Also, I'm currently contemplating on whether to keep the "unlimited commissions" Patreon reward, or to replace it with "commission priority", where patrons would be claiming slots as before, but would be served first before non-patrons, as well as provided with hi-res PSDs in some cases. I understand that unlimited commissions is a big draw for my patreon, but at the same time it's starting to feel just a bit overwhelming for me, and in looking back on my recent body of work, I can see that with the exception of Midweek Moleskines, literally all the stuff I've posted over the last few months have been commissions.

I realize that sounds really ungrateful or "guilt-trippy" of me, and I apologise for that. I have nothing but respect and thanks for all my clients for giving me so many fun things to draw and so much support over the years, both financial and moral. But I'm only one man with a second job on top of this one, and as my Patreon grows, the "unlimited commissions" model is going to become unsustainable in the near future. Plus, I have so many ideas of my own on the backburner that I want to share with everyone, so I want to give myself just a bit more breathing room art-wise. I definitely don't want to stop doing commissions, I just want to give more to my audience.

All that said, please let me know what you think about all this, and if you have any advice, don't hesitate to let me know in the comments below!

Speaking of which, I have just one question for my followers before I end this: What is the easiest/most convenient way to receive commission info from clients? At the moment, I have to constantly juggle around e-mails, PMs, Discord and Telegram to keep track of everyone, because I know not everyone uses the same methods of communication. Should I make a commission-specific e-mail address? Pretty much everyone has e-mail these days, and it doesn't require any further signing-up or downloading apps and programs.

I think whatever is easiest for you - email seems fair.

If you have multiple sites and having limited slots will be a thing again, commissions slots would preferably be scheduled. I don't think many would enjoy a guessing game of when/where just to make use of priority perks. Failing that; rather than 'unlimited' patrons could have a single reserved slot, as a suggestion. Would cut down on people who order multiple but still can get something without fighting for it. Email is universal yes, I have no problems with it. However I know many hardly/never use it. Too 'old school' for some it seems. However I think if they are serious about commissioning you, they'll go to such lengths.

Scheduled slots? That sounds reasonable. Perhaps I'd "host" the slots here (maybe 10 or 20 at a time) here on Patreon and let both Patrons and non-patrons take them, with links to it posted on deviantART, Furaffinity and Tumblr. I feel that'd be more efficient and better organized than having a small handful of slots on each site.

While Trello is a good way for people to see what the queue looks like (if they're curious or want to check the status of their commission), I think it makes a poor place to actually commission things as it requires another, separate login for people to futz with. People are generally lazy and won't mess with something if they don't have to. While I would be slightly sad to see infinite Patreon commissions go (although I do know it would be a good thing for you going forward), I would like to keep the priority on having Patreons commission you. Patreons already are bankrolling your month and it feels like a perk that really is reasonable. Maybe some kind of split where you offer X commission slots per month on Patreon and Y elsewhere, but those Y slots don't carry the discount even if you are a patreon? By splitting it this way you could also limit the amount of commissions down to something that allows you to also draw a bit for yourself. I would advise you to start small and work up from there. Additionally I would like to share that wanting to commission one of your favorite artists, being a patreon of theirs, having money for a commission and not being able to get a slot due to time differences or patreon tier really is something that grates on me hard. I've seen it happen multiple times in Patreon overhauls, and I really want to advise you against it. TLDR: Mad man rambling

Wow, thanks for all the feedback! I'll definitely keep this all in mind.

This is fine, Omny. I seem to recall warning you to be careful with unlimited slots when you first did it. If this is what makes you more comfortable, I can be patient and wait for slots. :)

I remember that too- I figured that the unlimited slots would still be limited by how much clients would be willing to pay, so it'd keep itself in check. Guess I underestimated my audience.

commission specific email for the win - I don't login to any of the main artists sites more than once a week, but I check my email multiple times a day. I dunno about everyone else, but *I'D* get back to you quicker :)
