The hatch opened with a hiss and I could now clearly hear sounds of distress and confusion, yet I still knelt, totally still and silent, phasers pointing forwards. Unlike the soldiers waiting to kill me on the other side, I remained firmly attached to the floor due to the active magnetic boots holding me securely to the metal deckplate.

Gravity boot

Gravity boots, magnetic boots, or magnet boots were magnetized boots worn by Starfleet personnel under certain conditions. These boots provided stability by adhering to a compatible surface, useful when sufficient gravity (or artificial gravity) was not available, including extra-vehicular environments ("space walk" situations).
