I wish I could feel something for new trek, but I don't But Q could be cool, even though it is odd how humanity might still be on trial yet the Klingons and Kazon seem to get a pass for being "dangerous, savage child-race."

That's a great point. There are so many shitty races in Star Trek, yet humanity is the one on trial. I've always felt it had something to do with humanity being the nexus of history for that galaxy, the center of so many events. Plus I saw it as Q recognizing humanity's potential. The others you named, like the Klingons and the Kazons, will destroy themselves in time, but humanity might have the potential to make it to the next level and beyond. That's how I always viewed it. And being in humanity's shoes actually saved them a time or two because Q was actively helping humanity. He gave the Federation time to prepare for the Borg, he even saved humanity's existence when he helped Picard realize the temporal paradox in "All Good Things". Lol, you're making me wonder if I should include these thoughts for when Gothic first meets Q.
