FINDING HIM, A SURREAL EXPLORATION GAME (Patreon)

Anyone remember this? The romantic non-adult game (which will, actually, contain adult scenes after all - I'll come back to this later in this post) that was announced since the very start of the "Wildside Comix" patreon? Yeah, it's been a while... ^_^;

It was actually the first game project to be announced as part of the "Wildside Comix" patreon, but it has been on hold for quite some time. The first post can be seen here, https://www.patreon.com/posts/kyla-walking-1558361, and it contains some previews of Kyla's walking frames. Later, MLH came into being and the work on "Finding Him" was more or less postponed. This was also in large part due to the fact that I wasn't sure what to do with it...the original plan was to have an RPG game, with battles and stuff....but I figured that this would just turn it into a non-adult version of MLH, and I honestly didn't see the point of this. After all, what would be the point of doing something so similar? When adding additional games as part of Patreon, I wanted to at least make something different!

While the game has been on hold, I have still occasionally been doing some work on it, and have gradually turned it into something else entirely. Since the start of the "Wildside Comix" patreon, the focus for my part has been primarily on "Monster Love Hotel" and the webcomic "Darkheim", the latter having been updated once a week ever since the start. "Darkheim" is very close to completion, however...there aren't many pages left until this webcomic is finished, and this has started to free up some additional time for me to spend on other Patreon projects, including "Finding Him" (there's also another game project in the works that I'll write about later today! ^_^)

"Finding Him" is an exploration type of game set in a surrealistic world. In many ways...this may not be a game for everyone...but if you like exploration and surrealism, it just might be your cup of tea ^_^

ABOUT THE GAME:

The game opens with an animated intro, showing Kyla waking up in a strange place, and she doesn't remember how she got there. A strange hooded creature approaches her, telling her that she's there for a reason...and that she needs to find the boy she loves. She needs to explore this strange world, and find puzzle pieces that will eventually reveal the background story of what happened prior to her getting there...and what she needs to do in order to find her boyfriend.

Like mentioned, the areas are filled with surrealistic places and strange creatures. Some of these creatures will give you a puzzle piece, but sometimes you need to do something in order to find them. Below, I'll explain a little bit by showing some screenshots from one of the areas:

First, here is a screenshot of a forest area with a pond. This area is largely empty, no creatures to be seen.

Up ahead she finds a bed and a lamp (whenever you can interact with something, you get an "X"). 

 The lamp lets Kyla "turn off the light" in the forest (yes, as I said it's a surreal world ^_^) and lots of small ghost-like creatures appear. 

If going back to the pond, a large creature has now been revealed, and upon approaching him he gives Kyla one piece of a puzzle. 

Now, let's start talking about those adult scenes that I mentioned. This game is a non-adult game. It does not focus on porn, and never will. It's a surreal exploration game about a girl that needs to find her boyfriend. However...the thing is, that I started drawing certain characters that...well...would fit rather well in adult scenes. I mean...there's a cockatoo girl there. A cockatoo girl. And a Nautilus girl. I just couldn't stand the temptation of drawing them into some smutty scenes ^_^;

What this means, is not that the game will turn into a regular "hentai game". It will still be a non-adult game that has some adult scenes as a bonus...something extra you can find if looking for them, but are not an essential part of the game and not its focus (they are also limited to scenes with the characters in this surreal world, like the Cockatoo Girl and the Nautilus Girl and some others).

This does bring up a few thoughts, however...primarily wether people think this sounds unnecessary (after all, some people think that adult games should be only focused on the adult parts, and a game that only includes it as bonus material is not interesting for them). Then again, I also know that some people might think it would be fun to hunt for these naughty "extra's". I would really like to know what the opinions from you patreon supporters is on this, however...do you think a non-adult game with animated sex scenes as "bonus material" sounds interesting, or do you think sex scenes in games where the story does not focus entirely on sex is pointless? After all, people have varying tastes and interests, so one opinion is not more "right" than the other. I will, in a short moment however, add a little poll just to see what people really feel about this. If the majority is thinking "meh, either it should all be about sex or nothing at all" I'll probably just keep the scenes to a minimum...but if people think it sounds fun to have adult scenes in a game that does not focus on sex, I'll likely add some more ^_^
