This is a little step by step. I use this technique when I want to achieve a soft silky appearance. 

Some considerations:

  • I use Paint tool SAI
  •  When i say "multiply" or "shine", they are layer modes on SAI but Photoshop has the same resources.
  • To apply the flat colors I use the "pencil", for the lights and shadows I prefer to use the "airbrush" or "watercolor", the important thing is that the tool allows you to adequately regulate the flow and opacity according to the pressure, that way you'll be better able to handle subtle changes.
  • About the details it could be painted in the same layer or use another layer to avoid mistakes. Use the tool you find better for each situation (like pencil for hard details, or airbrush to blurry places)
