Progress of the new update (Patreon)

Time for another monthly post reporting how the progress of the work is going! (I almost forgot to post one this month)

The main thing we are currently working on is the new sleeping with bot/cuddle scene. The gif and the four screenshots show how it currently looks in the game. Remember it's work in progress and is subject to change, for example the background right now is a placeholder. It will come with a couple of unique interactions. You will be able to get closer and cuddle, headpat and stroke her face, maybe even more. It's definitely the most wholesome scene in the game yet.

That last goofy animation was actually something I found by accident. It's an animation from a random animation generator in live2d editor. I added it here mostly because it's funny, but it actually serves a bit of a purpose. It shows some of the new arm movement that will be added as part of the "More emotions" pool option. I'm working on the code related to that right now. It's not easy as the old code responsible for emotions during story events is pretty clunky, which is the reason most events don't really have many. With the new system, it will be a lot simpler. That in turn means more emotions.

And for some boring stuff, I finished converting the way story events work to a new better system. It took quite a lot of time for something that, from the player's point of view, won't change anything, but with the new system it's possible to easily add new events even at runtime and it also makes debugging them a lot easier. The last screenshot shows one of the debug screens related to this. These are the events that can happen during walks. With this, I can easily tell what event would be selected as well as check out all the conditions for all possible events. As I said in the previous post, with a bit more work, this will also allow moders to add their own events. That could make for some really interesting mods.

Oh and one more thing. Landlord will finally get his own unique theme song!

Now for the most anticipated part, when will this update be released?

Things are starting to take shape and I think with a bit of luck the update will be released sometime in October.
