New clothes

As you can see in the main images of this progress report we are adding a dress! In fact two dresses. The second one(that you can see in the previous post with Sixie's art) that is still in the works and this "vintage" style dress. They will of course come in different color combinations. The dress's mesh itself extends beyond what's visible, so modders will be able to create a lot of unique clothes using it as a base.

I don't want to promise more clothes as this update is taking too long already, but we will for sure also add shoes. During testing of the the dress I realised the only ones available are sneakers and well... those don't go with dresses lol.

Also doesn't the white one kind of look like a wedding dress?

Here is some of them. They required a lot of work and still there's some more left, but I'm starting to see the light.

Rework of the boobs

That's a bit related to the above paragraph, but to explain a bit - previously boobs would sometimes get hidden when they were under clothes. This made it impossible for modders to make transparent, sheer or just clothes that show some of the boobs.

The reason that was done is because it was very difficult to get the animation right when using the Live2D physics. This is also the reason why you can't fondle the boobs in clothes and some of the boob physics is a bit off in some scenes. With all the new interactions I decided I might as well fix that. I won't go into detail how, but I found a way to get around it by reverse engineering some of the live2D physics code combined with some changes to the model itself. Boobs are now always visible, can always be played with and the jiggle is significantly better.

Optimization

This topic is kind of boring, so feel free to skip it if you aren't into the technical details. In short items and equipment screens now open and run faster!

For people who into this let me explain one:

Game has many lists of things for example items in the inventory. Those can be quite easily displayed in UI just by creating a GameObject for every item in the player inventory. Unfortunately some players have A LOT of items. When I tried a save from one of our patrons once I noticed a significant lag when entering the equipment and items screens and also quite low fps when scrolling that list. Unity's UI is quite slow and when you have hundreds of items being moved or created you get lag. To deal with this I've implemented two things:

Pooling GameObject - This is a very simple concept. Instead of destroying GameObjects that are no longer needed you disable them, add them to a pool and then you can reuse them later. I've also used this code in couple other parts of the game.

Second one is a bit harder to define, but in short, there's no need to display GameObjects for all items player has in the inventory. Only some of them will be in the viewport of the list at the time. This sounds simple, but the implementation was hard.

And here it is in action! You can see that it the selected GameObject(The one with the blue circles in the corners) is reused and also only the items in the viewport of the list are displayed. This code was also reused in many other lists outside of items and equipment, so a lot of parts of the game feel snappier now. The difference will be most noticeable on slower devices and saves with a lot of stuff.

Other smaller things

I posted a tiny clue about this in our discord along with a teaser about a change to the developer mode - ability to search for items in the "add item" debug button. You can see at the bottom "Fishing Rod" along with the fish "Bluegill" The second minigame added along with the cooking minigame is the fishing minigame! I won't post screenshots yet as it's all placeholder art so far, but the gameplay is similar to stardew valley's fishing minigame. I think with the next update this game truly will be the most unique nsfw game. What other nsfw game has a fishing, cooking AND stock trading???

Also our musicians cooked up real bangers for the cooking minigame and for the rest of the game. Look forward to the 4th volume of game's soundtrack.

When will the update be here?

Time for the most important question.

I think I can say a rough estimation this time. As much as I would like to finish earlier. I'd say there's still probably 2 months of work left.

Fantastic work as always, devs. Looking forward to more story related updates in the future. Also on the topic of changes to breast mechanics, would there be any way to add different sized/ahaped chest modules? It'd be funny to see people make mods for stuff like that, assuming it's possible to add a foundation for it into the game. 😆

For people that were wondering what other NSFW game has Fishing, Cooking, and Stock trading, Cloud Meadow has those. On another note, hello IC! I've really enjoyed your game! I showed it to a friend in discord chat a while back and me, him, and two other friends stayed up watching him play the game for like 4 hours until like 3AM lol. I got him addicted to the Stock market element, and he ended up with like, 800k by the next time I saw him playing it.
